Ok, so I am reaching a bit of a question about what do to now...

I currently own a 98 Subaru Legacy

- Station Wagon
- GT model 2.5l motor
- Automatic
- Both fenders pretty damaged.
- Drivers side doors are pretty beat down
- Couple of blown speakers
- Moonroof doesn't open (needs switch)
- Rear pass. window doesn't open/close (needs another switch)
- Oil leaking/burning
- Rear rim has a slow leak

So, I am trying to debate on what to do here. The oil leak/burn can be addressed with a trip to the shop. Which I don't really wanna pay for again. The switches aren't a big concern. The leaks are annoying, but nothing that keeping an eye on it can't handle.

Basically, what I am looking for, is a car that meets the following criteria:

- 5spd
- Moddable
- Body style doesn't matter too much, prefer a smaller car though
- Realiable. Something that doesn't need to be in a shop all the time
- Not too bad to insure.
- AWD prefered. Need something to drive in the snow
- Around $1500-2000 TOPS

So, what say you Tristate?

Yea, it sucks I don't have a decent amount of cash, but its all I can really work with for the time being.

And financing a car isn't really an option, I'm living own my own, and paying a ton of bills outta my checks, so there goes that option. I just don't think I can afford to take on monthly payments.

You could sell your car for what ever the value of it is, and just get what 240sxDann said.

The Wagon is definitly going to be sold. I wouldn't be surpised though, if I got $50 and a pack of gum for this thing...

how much rust is on the car? u might be able to get a couple hundred bucks for it depending on the condition of the body. post it up on nasioc.com if u are a member on there. someone might want it for a swap

Just did a KBB on it, and its valued around $3000 in fair condition.

Its about a thousand more if I sell it in RI.... weird.

But yea, I can snap pics if you want of the body... its a little rough on the fenders and drivers side door. But aside from that, its just normal dings and ****.

Very little rust actually. Honestly, if someone wanted it for a winter beater, this would really be the perfect car for it. Runs like a champ, never had an issue starting, driving, or anything. The oil leak is its only real flaw mechanically. Other then that, EVERYTHING else is cosmetic.

Haha, really? Thats why I priced it out as fair, knowing that the body wasn't in the best condition, but didn't know the condition of the engine. I just figured it ran strong.

Fair is about the best you can describe it. Motor/trans won't die. Just cosmetics.

And AWD is a little more wanted in New England, since it actually snows here

True. $4,000 doesn't seem all that bad for it. I'm sure you could actually get it, if the right person comes along and buys it.

Anyone need a winter beater? That would actually last more then a winter... lol

It would also be the perfect candidate for a motor swap.

Dude, believe me. If I had a spare car, and a few bucks laying around, a WRX motor w/ STi 6spd would be in its future.

Sadly, that isn't the situation.

Aint that the truth. If I had the money, I wouldn't have a v6 in my Ranger.
