when i tromp on the petal in my friends 240 sx, that thing moves. But when attempt to do the same thing in my tC, there is almost like a split second throttle lag. I have heard that there is a throttle by wire but it blows. Anyone else know what i am talking about??

Yep, and on some cars it's worse than others. My wife's Highlander is awful.

My car is drive-by-wire, where the computer adjusts the throttle based on gas pedal position. However, it is also an adaptive system on my car based on a history of driving tendencies. So, if I like to drive fast  it will learn this and give me more gas with less movement of the pedal. It also adjusts the automatic shift points in the same way, like holding a lower gear longer because it's more responsive. If you drive a car with this type of system, there's usually a way to reset the map so it can re-learn fresh. I've reset mine once or twice when I didn't like how it felt.

I'm sure every car is different. As for mine, someone posted up how to do it on the crossfire forum that I'm on. If you're on any Scion forums, you could try asking there, or asking the dealer. All I have to do is turn the key to on, hold the gas pedal all the way down for 5 seconds, then turn the car off and leave it off for 2 minutes. But like I said, that's specifically for my car.

The tC uses the same fly-by-wire electronic throttle as the Camry, thus what you are feeling is the delay in the throttle opening due to the throttle motor needing to actuate.

Actually the tC uses the same motor as the Camry in general.

grounding wires is a start, I put my grounding wires in and put a rubber stopper under my gas pedal because if you notice if u push ur pedal theres about 1/2 inch of play in the pedal, so i put a stopper to bascially even it out, so when you slam the throttle, i dont have almost any delay, fly by wire it sucks, theres a company coming out with a cable throttle and tb for the tc
