Supra owner here.

My old corolla is sitting in my driveway. I gotta take my headunit and maybe sell it. Probably needs a starter (and a whole lotta other ****)

Toyota WAS awesome. Now they are boring. Even as a fanboy, I could not, for the life of me, recommend a Toyota from the past 2-3 years.

I personally miss the old Toyotas myself, I've owned 4 so far and the old ones definitely had a lot more soul and design put into them. Not saying the new ones are that bland, but there's just something about the older Toyotas that strikes my interest.

The AE86 I can never get enough of, it may look bland to some but I always seem to turn back and look at mine after parking it, cannot really explain. My MR2 was a blast to drive, simple and to the point.

I think they really need to go back to their roots and focus on performance-oriented things outside of Scion again..

I own a 92 MR2 and my g/f has a 94 Celica ST. I love both cars... The 94 celica was a lot nicer car than I expected it to be.

I also love my DD subaru.

I love older toyotas. Ae86, celica alltrac, mr2, starlet and supras. I don't think they will ever go back to cars like that. I just got a job at a toyota dealership and the new cars are so boring lol, theres not one car that I've had in there that I thought was interesting. On a good note we're really slow right now so I'm redoing the turbo on my alltrac. Thinkin about pickin up a tercel to do a 4efte swap. But yeah new toyota sucks

Unfortunately I'm selling my 86, but it's SR5, auto and needs some work from an old accident.. so its not worth it with my budget anymore. I have my eyes on a GTS though so I'll be back into the game sooner or later.

Good luck with the alltrac, hopefully its not in too bad of shape being a PA car..

Thanks, Its in great shape actually besides the turbo. I did alot of work to it though, was beat when I got it. Heres pics.http://www.photobucket.com/sariatoss (www.photobucket.com/sariatoss)

Most are from when I was swapping in the JDM gen 2 gt4 trans. Found a clean one with 30k miles for real cheap. Also put in exedy clutch, new axle, hub and wheel bearing on the front left among tons of other things.

Good deal, wish I could find one reasonably priced around here, that isn't all rusted out. Nice find on getting GT4 parts as well, are they reasonably priced or are they pretty steep?

By the way you have one too many 'http://' in your url for anyone else who was interested in checking out those pictures.

Most parts are reasonable, since its a rare car there isnt much demand. GT4 and the alltrac are basically the same so you can use either. JDM has slightly different ecu's but they can be used with minor modifications. I got mine for 2500 and thats usually the going rate for the 1st gen alltrac. 2nd gen go from 4-8k. New parts can be hard to find though. When I was looking for an axle I had to call 4 places to find one. 2 stores told me my car didnt exist lol. 2 wrong axles from Pep boys because they didnt believe me that it was an alltrac lol when I returned the 2nd one they said they cant get alltrac parts at all.

Haha wow. Yeah I'm familiar with the GT4, I just wasn't sure if the prices were a lot higher or not given that its a rare car and from overseas. I always liked the alltracs, I'll have to give them another look sometime if I can ever find one reasonably local..

My mom's got a '09 corolla S (10k miles), sister has a '03 celica with TRD body kit(30k), and the GF has a '05 corolla (45k).
Only issue is with my gf's car. It keeps throwing CEL for emissions crap. The toyota dealer put 2 ecu's in it so far and hasn't fixed the problem. She just don't have time to get it back to the dealer.
Overall great cars for the money

Hmm I've only been at a toyota dealer for about 2 months but the cel for emissions I've seen on newer corollas have all been fixed by putting in a new evap canister, it should still be under emissions warranty for you too.

My buddy works at a toyota dealer and he was telling me it was something with the gas filler. Someone else worked on the car when i took it and they put an ecu in it. Problem instantly came back the next day, took the car back and they put a second ecu in it. CEL came back on the next day and i haven't been able to get back to the dealer since cause of school/work.
My friend told me it probably isnt the filler neck and there trying to figure out what exactly is going on. They had another one come in and after 3 ecu's it finally fixed the issue. Don't make sense to me but the canister sounds like a good thing to check. I just hope i can get it back there soon and get this taken care of.

Just wanna say whats up to all the other toyota fans on these boards.
I just bought a 92 Sc300 that I hope to eventually do a NA-T swap on once I get done school and have more time and mostly, more money to blow on the car lol.

I'm also wondering what smaller less expensive mods any of you guys would recommend as good projects to fill the time between now an when I can start to do a fully worked bottom up NA-T build?

Your SC probably has over 100k on it. Focus on the control arm bushings, steering rack bushings, trans mount and anything else you can do to freshen up the car. Is your car auto or manual?

fluids and whatnot are always a good call. if you want to get into modifications, there isn't a whole mess of huge power gains from bolts ons with the 2jz. most of the big power comes with boost, but you can free up flow with exhaust and an intake. look up the instructions for the BFI, its a modification to the stock airbox.

also suspension is a great way to start since there are a TON of options given the SC can take the supra suspension components. shoot me a pm if you want any more info

Aight dude thanks for the advice, I do actually plan to go NA-T at some point hopefully not too far in the future since I just got a new job, but i'll look into suspension for now.

as for the headlights unfortunately thats a no go on the fix, the person I bought the car from pulled over a parking block then backed up ripping off the front bumper, so they had it molded to the fenders on both side and it cracked open the top of the light so water gets in, but i'm getting new lights and bumper / fenders eventually so it'll look much better.

word, if you are going NA-T do all of your fluids and seals to make sure you've got a sweet base to start (but im sure you knew that).

sucks about the lights, but it seems like the perfect time to do a 97+ front end
