Hey everyone!

My name's Brad. I live in Northern Virginia, but all the local clubs here suck, and I have a bunch of friends up in NJ & PA, and they told me about you all

I had to come check it out, I'll be enjoying my stay presently, and I'll post pics of the car once it stops raining enough for me to actually *see* the car (it's been under heavy work for two & a half weeks).

It hasn't been running because Chris (Prototype240) and I spent a whole weekend starting my Twin Turbo install on my v6 Mustang. It's almost done...I go in for a major dynotune on Monday, hoping for around/over 300hp at 8.8PSI.

Pics in the AM!

Yeah...I'd hate to have my car get jacked up or stolen by some barely literate fool who says "I WANT BUYTHE MUSTAING, I WANT BUY CAR" on a note and leaves it DUCT TAPED to my front door.

You're a crazy Chris :) I love ya for it though, and thanks for all the help, I couldn't have gotten it done without ya.

Impressive. That's the kind of stuff I like to see.

There have been a few "out of the ordinary" cars signing up lately and I for one like it!

Welcome to the club. :partyman:

that is the craziest setup I have seen in a long time.... the inlets facing each other

teh DIRT
03-26-2005, 08:42 PM
yeah...so...wow. thats pretty nuts. that intercooler ever scrape anything?

piratius
03-26-2005, 11:35 PM
I don't know. I haven't driven it yet

I'm going for a dyno tune on monday, then I'll let you all know.

Hopefully it doesn't scrape, it's only an inch or two lower than the front of the lower radiator support. I'm more worried that a CERTAIN CHUNK OF BRAKE LINE might rub on the ground. (cheap shot at Chris :finga: )

Heh. It's all good. The inlets...yeah. Not to happy about that...seeing how the guy had me buy two special order K&N's (non returnable at the local store) and they don't fit. I'm going a custom silicone with some slight bends into the things...I *think* I can make it work. Heh.

Now I just need gorgeous women to pose on my car and I'll be set

Heh, true. If there are any takers when I make it up to a hangout/meet/whatever I'll be sure to bring the trusty camera.

So...

Any takers?

(Guys, you're now obligated to show this to every girl you know to find someone for me so my car doesn't feel lonely  )

Just woke up  (7:30AM) and got showered. Calling UHaul to go get a Dolley, then...take her down to get the tune! :supz:

I'll let everyone know as soon as I can post, or I'll call Chris and have him post for me while I'm still out playing.

I'm planning on making it up...possibly...(Hear that, POSSIBLY, but not sure) for the thing this weekend, that April 3rd thing, but maybe only if my friend Chris (Prototype 240, with the S14.4  ) is rolling and able to come too, I'd feel silly being there without the guy who got me into it.

You'll hear it if it's there... :finga:

Oh, and the dyno results you've all been waiting for (scroll down)

You'll have to wait. :finga: The shop was having an addition put on (supposedly) last monday, but the construction guys didn't make it out until friday, which means they're a day or three behind on their work, so my car won't get touched until tomorrow (tuesday) or wednesday.

Very cool. I was like "I talked to him today, and he was working on it...how'd he get it together and sell it so fast!?"

I'll keep you all posted...I should have a picture of my car on the rollback during the rainstorm when I get the email from my friend :)

Had a wierd problem today. The shop called me and told me they can't dyno my car because it's got a "wierd idle issue, very vacuum related"

I get down there, and look the car over, everything seems in order...then he started the car. It was fine, until a lot of manifold vacuum had built up...and then the squealing started...like a belt-squeal, but more horrible, since it was coming from the ENGINE BLOCK!!!!!!11!!!! OH NO3S~!!!

Well, we think we figured it out (more like I figured it out with help from my dad who was talking to me on the phone at the time, he helped with the install, more of a car nut than me, I think!).

Here's how the v6 PCV system works....the air flows through the MAF (mass airflow sensor), then there's a port on the MAF->TB elbow that leads into the passenger side bank of the Block (since it is a V after all :P ). From their, the air is actually pulled through the crankcase, up through the driver's side PCV valve, and into the manifold. I realized at that point that the car used the PCV as a big part of the idle air control, since it sucks metered air through the crankcase while BYPASSING the throttle plate.

I'd reworked the PCV system (so i wouldn't pressurize the crankcase, or so I thought) by adding a PCV valve into the passenger's side, whereas before it was just a port. I routed that line to the manifold, in a T right next to the driver's side (which I had left stock).

The result was that the crankcase was pulling 20in/hg whereas it was supposed to have no pressure or vacuum at all. I'm letting the shop deal with that issue, then tuning 'er up tomorrow!

Chris at Excessive spent thirty minutes talking to me, he's gonna take care of it and hopefully get the car on the rollers this afternoon. This is a longer process than I thought :)

any new news yet? I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see what you get out of this setup.

No news. The car is bucking like crazy just over 2000rpms, when the throttle is mostly closed, i.e. it would be undriveable on the street, so I'm working with the shop to get it sorted out.

Needless to say, I won't be there tomorrow unless the shop has a miracle breakthrough (which they might!)
