It got REALLY nasty outside, And btw they dont "always" issue these alerts..maybe for a flash flood but NEVER a tornado.
i love these crazy storms. it sucks when they damage things of course. but a kicking thunderstorm is awesome

Dodged a bullet there. The line of storms looked pretty nasty on radar. The airport in Trenton did suffer some wind damage and a couple small planes got tossed around.

I've seen tornado warnings for Mercer/Bucks many times.
The closest one ever touched down I believe was the really tiny one in the middle of the cherry hill mall parking lot.

My basement floods every time it rains, and our sump pump has kicked on every 15 minutes or so since.
For the Philly area, during the summer months ..
- Severe thunderstorm watches are common.
- Severe thunderstorm warnings are fairly common.
- Tornado watches are not particularly common.
- Tornado warnings are rare.
Severe thunderstorm [tornado] watches are issued whenever conditions are favorable for severe weather [tornado] development. Severe thunderstorm [tornado] warnings are issued whenever severe weather [a tornado] has already been observed.
In other words, a warning cannot be issued unless whatever they're warning for IS ALREADY HAPPENING, OR IS ON THE VERGE OF HAPPENING.

yeah a tornado hit stratford too about a block over from me. my neighbor is a firefighter one hit my town and 2-3 hit another, but they wont report that because of insurance reasons against the town.
personally i was watching tv like wow "ITS RAININ SIDE WAYS" yeah i quoted it but, it was didnt think a thing of it. then i saw the transformer blow up and catch on fire while a limb falls off a tree across the street ripping the wires off the poles and the main electrical wire off my house... to be honest (because no one got hurt) IT WAS AWESOME haha the noise it made was insane and it was nice to be able 2 get out and help people. but being in the stone age for a full day with no power SUCKS phone died too.
heres some pix

Damn yo. I wasnt aware that storm actually dropped any twisters in our area. I heard about the Tornado warning right when I woke up with a big hangover from saturday. I was like"ahhhh ****, this cant be happening now" so I went and slept in the basement. Nothing happened over by me in pennington NJ
I'm sitting here in the meteorology center of my local NBC station (where I intern) -- just showed those pictures to the meteorologists here. Said that it's possible that no twisters actually dropped, that damage could've been caused by wet microbursts, which are essentially REALLY strong downdrafts that are generated by severe thunderstorms.

Basis on that line of thought is that the trees aren't 'twisted' and deformed like they usually are when they've actually been in a tornado. The trees in the photos seem to have more 'straight line' wind damage.
