I just bought a 2005 1.8t but i noticed that I have a little water/condensation under the light after i wash the car or it rains. I want to fix the problem. My question is how do i remove this light to replace it with a good one? Also where can i find this part..looking for websites or can i just go to a parts store and they would have them? Thanks for any help as I am a newb to volkswagens.

The repeaters on the fenders?
Option A: Try re sealing it
Option B: Take them out, go to VWvortex, replace
Option C: Take them out, take welder...

thanks for the info. I thought i could reseal them I just have no idea how to. First how do you remove the repeater light.. the little ones with round coners on the fenders? than resealing requires baking them and than applying some kind of sealant. Sorry its the first time ever having to do something of this nature.

Gotta take the fender off
Gotta take the fender off
Not true at all.
Option 1. Go from the back side by removing wheel well and reach up and pop it out.
Option 2. Use a flathead and pry (not recommended). I've seen people use credit cards to get it out, and alot less chance of damaging paint.
But I really like Will's option 3 and you should just do that.
Edit: Found this guy for ya

Like so? lol
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk155/POVERSEcards/IMG_0286.jpg
Edit: I dont think you can reach it from inside the wheel well? I cant remember, since i dont have them lol
take a screw driving and push the light forward and compress the spring and you will see 2 tabs in the back and it will pop out.

thanks for the advice. i think i will try to push is with my fingers first. If that doesn't work than i well go in through the wheel well since unlike most dubbers i still have massive wheel gap. Yea i like will's 3rd idea also but im not able to do that right now. I want to get all problems fixed and get out of debit than mods will begin in which ill need alot of help with that also.

You can usually find **** real cheap on Vortex. And i have L&T
Actually repair parts are relatively cheap check out my 2 favorite places GermanAutoParts.com and WorldImpex.com there are loads of others but those two are good and get you the stuff fast. For used stuff locally I like Kohl's German Auto Parts. He stands behind his stuff. Dubs get pricey when good owners do sub par work/maintenance. My GTI has only cost me the normal BS stuff that goes on A MK2. The only problem is its all getting done @ once because the PO kept it looking perfect but didn't do the little stuff that makes the car run top notch. My turd kinda rips for a 170K digi.

Here's a link to the MK4 lights I think yer looking for. Check to make sure before you buy. The shipping from them is usually only one day if its in stock.

can any of you guys give me some websites for aftermarket parts also? as in performance parts.
can any of you guys give me some websites for aftermarket parts also? as in performance parts.
sure.
www.goapr.com
www.awe-tuning.com
www.neuspeed.com
www.supremepower.com
www.vividracing.com (i have had great experiences with them but apparently some folks on here have not)
www.custom-performance.net (exhaust and intake options. limited stuff for your car but great customer service, free shipping, etc. as well as possible special order depending on what you are looking for)
www.vf-engineering.com
www.c2motorsports.net
these are just ones off the top of my head....
i am not familiar with the vendors on this forum but i am sure there are quite a few that can help out with getting performance parts.
your question (obviously) is a broad one. what in particular are you looking for? what are your mod plans?
for example, if you are looking to get an exhaust now, then there are many many options.
if you want to do big turbo kit down the road, then i say save your money on getting software now and put it towards the kit.
for parts such as exterior aesthetic mods, coilovers, other suspension parts, wheels, i would check with supreme power. they usually have great pricing that is pretty hard to beat. they can get just about any wheel including dpe, hre, ccw, etc.
i have personally dealt with all of the above. a couple are sponsors of our group. i recommend any of the above BUT again, it depends on both the short-term and long-term plans you have for your car.
hth somewhat.

Thanks for all the links looks like i have alot of research to do now. As for G.T. right now im just kind of browsing for a few months but i would like to do some minor suspension work first along with some intake and exhaust than look to move into bigger turbos and such down the road. Thanks for all the great information.

cool cool.
yeah, be sure to take your time with research. i always recommend folks do it ad nauseam for any part, how ever minor, that you are gonna put on your car.
Willdue, you got that from vortex, right? i was looking for that "comprehensive" list. my reaction: "yeah, that works" :)

oh yeah, in addition to my reaction, i el oh el'd too. i think it was a mix of that and . i was strangely reminded of the crocodile dundee scene where the random guy comes up with a knife but with a slight variation:
"that's not a list"...."*that's* a list."
ok, i am rambling....
to OP, gl with your search for performance parts. be sure to post up questions along the way. it seems this forum is a bit more "question-friendly"....
The biggest suggestion that I could make ( and I'm sure the other dubbers will agree ) is figure out a goal and a budget. These two things will help you out big time in the long run. You don't want to be that guy that throws alot of BS parts at his car and ends up with a piece. Alot of guys on here have probably done this for a while and can help you avoid mistakes they learned the hard way. OMG if I had it to do over again.....

yea this site is alot more question friendly than vwvortex so far. And ein, yea i don't plan on getting parts right away. I just want to drive the car for now to see what i would like to change and than be able to set a budget and chose parts accordingly. I know alot of people that have just thrown alot of bs parts on a car just to say they have them and at the end the car is not very good.

dont ask questions in the mk4 forum.. and they really like you to search because more than likely it has been asked and answered before.

QFT
i want a do over on my GTI haha
Vortex is ROUGH to get Q's answered but its kinda good in a way. People just want to abuse the noobs and get their post count up rather than try to guide them where needed. They hate spoonfeeding people.
Vortex is stupid.. same 10 people posting pics of their Jettas in the MKIV forum everyday. Venture into the technical sections for real answers. someone posted yesterday that mkiv forum is about looks before safety and function. "Cut your front sway out, it doesn't effect anything" wtf is that about. Stupid people over there.
Can't argue that. I frequent the Corrado forum myself they are really helpful...As long as proper etiquette is followed and you demonstrate an ability to use the SEARCHbutton. Just don't mind the gay jokes.
