I've never surfed in Ocean City, don't frequent many of the southern beaches except LBI, sorry.

A 5'6" Flyer? That's sweet, I had a 6' Flyer that was a little too big but 5'6" is too far the other direction, probably so fun in medium sized waves goofing around though.

It's NJ in August, that's just how it is. Get up early in the morning (7 or earlier will buy you a few hours) or surf when everyone else is eating dinner. Plus conditions are always best in the morning and evening.

Unless it's really good, or big enough to get most people out of the water, I never surf mid-day in summer. Crowds are ludicrous. I've already been skeg'd once this year.

Got Insulin?

Fins on the bottom of the board are called skegs. When someone runs you over, or, say, ditches his NSP longboard right in front of you while you're riding a wave, sometimes the skegs cut you. Skeg'd/skegged. I dunno, I've never typed it before haha
This was just a small cut on my back, enough to get me pretty pissed though, I've had much worse.

that sucks.. i seen alot of dicks on 7th street getting f'ed up on sat. there were so mant good guys out there ripping it up and like ever wave foam boarders would just be floating in there way.. so ****ty..

but i took your advice and later sat me and my brother went out by the 13th street pier and had a blast.. nice waves and no people. then i found a surf beach on like 14th i think ? on the other side of the pier also a great spot. we went there sun night and monday morning.

Yeah, it gets crowded out there. Glad to hear you got some solid time, this month has been okay for surf, which is amazing for July as it's usually totally flat. That I even got in two solid days makes me happy. Keep it up with the morning and evening sessions! That's the way to do it.

I surfed in DE a few times years ago... just north of the Indian River Inlet was the place to be if I remember right, but it got suuuper shallow on low tide. It's different down there as there aren't any jettis or piers where I surfed to prevent from wind and lots of sand moving around, but I had a few decent sessions. Here's the Surfline map for the area -- http://www.surfline.com/travel/#2148

I'm going up to Rhode Island for a bit and am hoping to be able to at least longboard one or two of the points up there, should be fun.

I haven't been out since my pops somehow wedge the 8' Fluid Xpress fun shape between a tool box and the garage door.

I've only surfed LBI, Beach Haven and south, sometimes I would head up to Surf City in the Fall. It's been so long, I need to break out the fiberglass and fix this board, although I want something longer cause I'm a uncoordinated fat ass.

Wesley Ave in The Gardens. If you go North all the way up West Ave you'll get to a private looking development - turn Right (I think that's North ave), then drive pretty much straight down that road and it should take you to Wesley. Theres meter parking in front of huge sand dune looking things... just ask one of the beach tag people if you go during the day which is the surf beach.

Com'on where is your sense of adventure? hehe

While I was in Rio Grande today I stopped and picked up some board filler, now to get the funboard out my attic and patch her up good!

Speaking of, I work a good bit in Rio Grande, 9 & 47. Where is a lunch break surf spot close by? I've only surfed LBI, and don't know much on southern south jersey!

Jersey's gonna be a zoo. Maybe Manasquan will hold it. I'm bringing the big camera lens and will watch if it's as big as it's projected to be... bigger than double overhead and most everywhere will be giant closeouts.

Once it starts dying down it might be epic... hoping for a few hours of head high+ and offshore winds between Sunday-Tuesday, we'll see.

This.

Second on the heads up for 7th St surf in OC..... The shop right on the boardwalk has a pretty good selection of new and used boards, though true longboards ( and people talented enough to ride them) are few and far between anymore. Imo, the best waves are usually anywhere north of 9th :supz:
