Yeah, seen that.

It's awesome. Definitely would take one of those. Would be horrible in the rain though.

weather > no body panels.

If someone wants to co-sign with me I'll drive it in the rain. That's what they make rain-coats for ! :D

+1 for being moved directly to the top of my list for 5 cars I need to own.

We talked about this episode in an earlier thread, however, this vid was posted awhile back.

Classic Top Gear.

“...You never, ever, miss an apex… because you can see where the wheel hits the road… you hit EVERY ONE, EVERY SINGLE TIME… AHHH HAH HAH HAA!!!”

I wish I lived in Britian and could buy such ridiculiously fast and dangerous cars. :(

I wonder if any of you realize it's running a Honda Civic Type R motor?

Didn't watch the whole thing.

But personally I'd rather have the Civic Type R engine in the car it was manufactured in.

:bigeek: You're insane, you'd take a FWD hatchback over that rear engine rocket on wheels?!?

Not the first time I've been called insane.
And yes, I would take the hatchie instead of the Atom.
I like the whole daily driver appeal.

Part of me understands the daily driver appeal, but the other 99% of me would call a taxi when it rains. Or the raincoat idea.

you can also choose the GM Ecotec motor w/ sc that is featured in the Saturn Ion Redline. it's a far more powerful motor then the honda vtec motor that they offer and is american which means cheaper tuning for more aftermarket mods.

I just priced one out at $43K but I'm waiting on their reply to see if they'll be offering us the atom in a lhd version.

they are being imported into the USA but there is a 6 month back order on them.

one nice thing about the car is that they are offering it in a kit form, this will make it super easy to register and skip emissions.

treat it like a bike, get a rain suit, proper helmet and adjust the windscreen, you should be ok unless stuck in traffic.

It was only a few tenths of a second slower than the Enzo on their track…

…Civics are everywhere… I’ll take the Atom… (and use my EVO and Accord for rainy days.)

Naw, there was another post durring the summer (I think Bryan started it.) He was just letting people know that Top Gear was on that night. And it happened to be the Ariel Atom episode.

I've been interested in doing the Bertil Roos driving school up at Pocono. I'll have to e-mail them and see if they are one of the schools that is considering swapping their F2000 cars for the Atoms. If that's the case, I'm that much more excited for the school!!!

I'm relatively sure the Atom will be street legal in 2 states soon. One is Oregon or Washington and the other isn't anywhere near the East coast unfortunately. I would be happy owning this as a trailer queen and hitting the track a few times a month.

hrmm.. i just read in autoweek about a month ago that it is now being built in the US, and street legal.(i think you have to buy it more or less unassembled so it gets registered as a kit car or whatever)

but they didnt mention any state restrictions as i recall. ill try to dig up the article tonight

i love that car

theres a shop in oklahoma that bought one without an engine and built the living piss out of the k20 and it was pushing around 330whp n/a. i believe the guy crashed it at 20mph though within the first couple weeks, causing well over $20k in damage :(
