Since your avatar appears to be a Philadelphia car (I know most of the local PA and NJ cars from work), I actually have a question about how bail is handled in Philadelphia. We handle all of NJ and most of the eastern counties in PA (montgomery, bucks, lehigh, luzerne, delaware, chester) and we receive a lot of phone calls for Philadelphia as well. However, I know that the city of Philadelphia handles bails directly through the city, and does not allow independent bailbond companies to post. I know Chester county was similar until recently when it was changed. Whenever someone calls, usually for CFCF, we tell them that we're unable to do anything and that they should call the criminal justice complex at 13th & Filbert and ask them. How exactly does one go about getting bail posted in Philadelphia? Isn't there a bail unit or something at the complex that works like a bail bond company, but is directly associated with the city? We get asked a lot of the time if they take property directly as collateral for bail, which we take as "collateral" (and only real estate trust/deed) but not as the $$ fee associated with getting bailed out.
Thanks for any info.
