It actually happens a lot.

I'm sure people dont plan it that way when they right songs but it does happen every once in a while. Listen to the whole Linkin Park/Jay-Z Mash-up Album. From a musical standpoint, if the 2 songs have the same BPM (Beats Per Minute) then they fit together. It's just that not 100% of the time all of the little cadences and filler riffs in the song fit together. But every once in a while, you get a good one that fits without editing.

Going back to the LP/Jay-Z thing. Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin" and LP's "Papercut" had the exact same BPM and those 2 songs fit together with no editing at all.

That actually does sound pretty good though
