The Audi 4.2 is soo good no mod is able to offer any exicting HP.
I'd take no award for the ability to make it faster.
Nice find on the post.

I see no mention of the mitsu 4g63 so the articles merrit's are already in question. Part of the reason I didn't bother to read the rest of it.

Besides I should be wrapping presents.... :)

Cool article. I hear that new VAG 2L FSI turbo is a really really nice engine, I need to go for a test drive in one of them. That and the Mazdaspeed 6, I totally forgot about that car somehow.

No 4G63 or EJ20/25! I'm not heartbroken, but suprised to see the Saab and Cobalt Supercharged engines instead. I haven't driven either, but I haven't heard amazing things either.

I love the nissan VQ35 engine.

it seems it must be a list of whoever paid them the most. not only is there no 4G63 or EJ257, but where the hell is the LS7? or the f1 inspired BMW V10 that weighs only 1kg more than the V8 it replaces?

i originally thought the list was a combination of the newest engines of the year, but that can't be true with Nissan VQ since it's been around since 2003...

i stand corrected..

"The only engine to win a 10 Best Engines award every year since the program's inception, Nissan engineers improve the sterling “VQ” V-6 with new levels of power and torque for 2006."

"During a 2-month test period, six Ward's editors evaluated engines from 31 different cars, trucks and SUVs. Scoring encompassed the crucial engine characteristics of power; torque; noise, vibration and harshness (NVH); technical relevance and basic comparative numbers. All engines nominated and tested were in vehicles with a base suggested retail price under $52,500."

looks like if you update hp/tq - you're up for an award.

General Motors Corp.: 2.8L turbocharged DOHC V-6 (Saab 9-3 Aero)

Sweeeeet. :)

but this one I can't understand

General Motors Corp.: 2L supercharged DOHC I-4 (Chevrolet Cobalt SS)....
GM makes serious inroads into the affordable performance market with its thrilling 2L supercharged DOHC I-4 used in the Cobalt SS performance coupe.
All they did was steal the Saab 2.0 turbo and make it worse by fitting a supercharger instead of a turbo.

I was gonna comment about that choice as well but I didn't wanna offend the Colbalt members on here.

What a dumb article, I think it takes a couple years to determine how good an engine is( reliability is number 1 for me, and only time can tell). New engines or not, 4g63 should of been on their either way because of the addition of the mivec in 2006.

I'd like to see how bmw's 335 would compare to the latest and greatest for '07.

Some parts are from the 2.0 turbo. However, some internals in the LSJ are different than the 2.0t (rods / pistons etc..)

I second that man, K-series= good motor. I also like the ej205 and ej25, kinda wish they made it up on the list, might be a lil biasd but oh well. O yea, the 4g63 should have been on there also, that motor is just a beast!

wtf no srt-4 motor? they put on a cobalt ss motor that doesnt make nearly as much whp or torque. what about the 350z 6 cyl? or the evo even?! why is the cobalt on there? because a GM 4 cyl motor finally broke the 200 hp mark? acura did that years ago. and the new ford mustang GT? the LS1 is older and would kill that ford motor any day of the week. LS1's have been known to break 12's stock. give me a ****ing break. they wanna do an article about motors they should know wtf one is first.
