I just got word that a kid from my high school died last night...which I heard was from drunk driving. I have heard of doing this before, I guess he didn't get as lucky this time. I didn't know him that well, he was in my math class senior year, but I can't believe this...It makes me so sad, he just graduated high school in June. Just one stupid mistake and there goes his life. I just want to remind you all please....Do not drive drunk. Don't speed, don't street race...Please drive safely. Ignore all the assholes trying to race you. All it takes is 1 time, and now he paid the ultimate price.

R.I.P.

Such a simple concept that people still struggle to grasp, don't do it guys. I have a few friends that always try, and do sometimes, to drive drunk and claim they'll be ok. It takes one mistake, one second and everything is over or changed completely for the rest of your life. In no way, shape or form worth it no matter how close you have to drive to or how long its been since your last drink. RIP.

I couldn't agree more, I personally don't drink...But like say you aren't sure if you are ok or not, why take that risk? You have nothing to gain but everything to lose.

I know he just graduated this past year so I would take a guess that he was 18.

I've never driven my MR2 (new and old) drunk. My truck once or twice about a mile home from the bar.

I hate it and got so paranoid. I'm sorry to hear about this... RIP

Just don't do it. Speed on the track or autox course

That sucks. I hate when I know my friends drive home drunk after a night at the bar or from partying. I've had to go to too many funerals during and right after high school because of this. Hopefully people on here are smarter than this. If you care so much to put that much money into your cars but don't care about your own life enough to not drive drunk... At leastt don't do it so you don't waste the time and money you put into your car...
Ugh.

That really does suck. As others have said it's something that should not be done. Whether you are 21+ or not. It's one thing driving home drunk, but also being under 21. You can get yourself in some pretty serious trouble if pulled over. Luckily there was no one else in the car as well that could of been harmed.

damn man. that is tragic. The real tradgedy is that alcohol is so accepted, even lauded, in our society.... ITS A DRUG THAT KILLS. Kills more people yearly than all of the other drugs combined. Both from DUI accidents and Diseases.

From the time we're in high school, we're conditioned by society to think alcohol "isn't that big of a deal, and everyone does it". Ever since alcohol went corporate and became big business, the powers-that-be have fought tooth and nail to protect it from heavier regulation.... while cigarettes have been more harshly criticized, and freakin marijuana is illegal! Put 2 and 2 together here, if Peanut Butter killed as many people as alcohol does, it would have been off the shelf 20 years ago.

Alcohol destroys lives, ruins families. People/kids mistakenly assume that they will be fine if they drink, after all, its legal! You have kids literally counting down the days till they turn 21, then promptly going out and risking their lives by consuming as much liquor as possible to "celebrate".

Its very easy to blame this kid for his own actions, however, he's just a kid. Kids are dumb and make mistakes. We all have/did. I blame society for making alcohol so prevalent and accessible and appealing to kids. Heck, they have Sex-Ed in high school, they should have Alcohol-ED! Kids don't realize that you can literally die real quick from being an alcoholic. Its just sad.

Couldn't have said it better myself. People always say "drugs and alcohol". Alcohol is a drug IMO...It is really bad for your liver, and too many people make mistakes with it. Ciggarettes are always getting **** but alcohol gets nothing...It is def. too widely accepted in society. I don't drink so I'v never been drunk but I always wondered if when somebody is drunk and about to drive, do they know what they are doing? Or no? Not that I agree with pot but if alcohol is legal pot should be too, I look at pot as less harmful that alcohol.

Wow, I am sorry to hear that. I've been in the Fire Service & EMS field since 1999. I've honestly seen this happen to absolutely too many young people, and people in general. It's ridiculous. I've been out with the Montgomery County DUI Taskforce countless times, in multiple townships. It's disgusting how many people we arrested during those taskforce nights. Underage kids drinking & driving all the way up to this 83 year old lady. WHY? If you are going to drink, have a DD or plan to spend the night/sober up.

I'm sure the other Fire/EMS/Police personnel here will tell you how horrible it is to see the after effects of a DUI related motor vehicle collision, especially when we're scraping up brain matter from the pavement (that's a whole other SEAT BELT issue). It's not fun cutting a deceased body out of a mangled car...

I will completely admit this, I have called 9-1-1 on multiple drivers I suspected of being drunk on the highways over the years. Every time the officers showed up, gave them a sobriety test, and CLICK... in the back of the patrol car they've gone. I will never hesitate to have someone arrested for drunk driving. They WILL kill themselves and/or someone else and I am fine with preventing that as much as possible.

So have I. If I know I'm going out to have a few drinks, I will stop myself at a certain time, and then just sober up. It's not worth it. RIP.

Wow another loss for CR South. I graduated same class as Asif and we've seen so many deaths at our school for one reason or another.

Heck, I'll admit too, I used to "drink" and then drive when i was younger, but I always drink in moderation and stay completely in control, unlike some of my friends. I never got a DUI or accident (except that one in the mustang...), but def got very lucky I'm sure.

I still drink, but nowhere near as much as I did in high school and college. Maybe 1-3 nights/month now.. Plus, that stuff is MAD $$$! You gotta be wealthy to be a real alchy.

Man I can only imagine what it's like seeing people like that on a day to day basis...Walking down the halls at school I could always hear somebody talking about driving high or drunk...but bragging about it. It's so sad how stupid people can be. When you call in 911 for a drunk driver, how hard is it for a cop to find them and do you just call 911 straight? Or the police station?

Fortunately(?) you kind of become acclimated to it. It's horrible to see it every time it happens, though. I will never forget every fatal wreck I've been on. Every time I drive past those locations I .. I remember. It bothers you. There's definitely lost sleep over some calls. It happens. We have to deal with it.

Regarding reporting drunk drivers... I call 9-1-1 directly. Typically I am on a highway somewhere and it's up to the Statie's to take care of them. I state to them I'm following a possible drunk driver. Typically they are swerving, crossing the yellow line on one side and the white line on the other side, almost hitting oncoming traffic, blowing lights/stop signs in some cases, running into guardrails or curbs, etc. I report all this to them. I give them the tag (license plate) of the vehicle, as well as make, model, and color if I can get 'em all. I also let them know what I am driving as it's easier to spot 2 vehicles matching a description than just one. On the highway I will follow them until police show up, while I stay on the phone with the dispatcher. I've had police show in as quick as 1 minute, with 3 patrol cars!! It's a great sight.

If I am the only witness, aka the police arrive after the fact, and the vehicle has already stopped, I have to go to court to testify. However, if the police arrive and the vehicle is still on the road, they get in front of me without their light bar on. They follow them for maybe 1/4 mile or until they do something stupid. They'll then light 'em up as they witnessed enough to make a traffic stop. A sobriety test is administered. If they fail, they are arrested. In that case I typically don't have to show in court.

I don't go out of my way to do this. I don't cruise around on Friday and Saturday nights looking for drunks (Quite a few people actually do this). I do have a life lol. I only do this if someone is in front of me or almost hits me and I notice they are not driving "normally" ....

I drove home drunk once. I really don’t remember much that night. I remember it felt like I was about to die at one point. I remember walking like a dinosaur. I remember killing everyone in Halo 2. I remember carrying my TV down a flight of steps.

I remember bits and pieces of driving home. All after 21 shots. I don’t know how I didn’t hurt myself or someone else. That was the only time I ever did that.

I remember waking up 8 hours later and still being drunk lol

god i HATE to hear this about anyone much less a kid.although i am a former drug addict with 16 going on 17 months clean i will never touch a drug again due to many friends being killed and the closer i get to 21 the less i even wanna go to the bar for a beer although i shouldnt being a recovering addict. i see so many friends and former friends die from drugs and driving under the influence its a shame along with speeding and killing others speeding there is a time and place for it if you cant make it to the track and thats on an empty flat road so if you mess up its on you and only you !b
