gotta remember that trees have very little surface area compared to a big ass train. trees get uprooted and broken off during storms all the time, but i imagine that if the wind isn't strong enough to uproot trees, it could still catch the broad side of a train and push it like a sail and do just what happened in the video. trees remain intact and train gets it's day F'ed up.
think of a semi truck on the highway next to you in a low and wide Ferrari during a wind storm... the truck driver is probably s***ing his pants and you probably don't feel anything in the car.

This was posted on my other car forums, here's what one guy dug up:
It wasn't a tornado?
http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lot/?n=20080107tor
THE TORNADO THEN MOVED ACROSS THE CHICAGO AND NORTHWESTERN RAILROAD WHERE IT BLEW 12 RAILROAD FREIGHT CARS OFF THE TRACK. THE TRAIN WAS MOVING AT THE TIME THE TORNADO HIT IT...SO AS THE MAIN ENGINE STOPPED...THE REMAINING CARS ON THE TRACK CONTINUED ALONG IT AND SLAMMED INTO THE FRONT PART OF THE TRAIN. THIS CAUSED A FEW MORE CARS TO DERAIL...INCLUDING ONE CONTAINING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS THAT CAUSED THE EVACUATION OF THE TOWN OF LAWRENCE. THE DAMAGE IN LAWRENCE WAS RATED AS EF2 WITH WINDS UP TO 110 MPH.
Nope. See above quote from story.
And I just noticed that was in the notes of the video. Son of a bitch...
