I think i may have broken it. But im tryna make sure 100% before i go to the hospital, since I dont have med insurance.

So if you have, what symptoms did you have. I know your shoulder kind of hangs low, which mine isnt, but the bone on my chest is kind of bulging.

SH!t man. I almost cried when i saw this thread. Someone refer PoolMike to this thread. How sad is it that you are in pain, yet you're scared to go to A HOSPTIAL [FOR CHRISTS SAKE] because you don't pay $100 ransom to some insurance conglomerate....

A description of what happened to cause the injury might help in diagnosing. But it sure sounds like you have a break somewhere. I feel for you if you do have to go to the hospital and pay out-of-pocket... thats gonna be a BIG bill man.

no, me and my buddy always practice grappling on the ground, but we were a little drunk, and he had me in an armbar, and i picked him up while he had my arm, and I slammed him. I felt a pop/crack like right under my peck.

He weighs 230, i weigh 140. I hate how I am. I train everyday, and I get in fight mode, and feel no pain.

i did last year:

you'd swell up immediately if you did. Mine also hung low. I heard it crack when it happened. Does the bones sound like its cracking or anything when you move it up and down? I had a lot of crunching lol. I ended up driving myself to the ER. It didn't hurt at all honestly, but i have an insanely high pain tolerance.

Willdue

ive felt some cracks today, but i thought it would be from being stiff/sore. Im not swolling anywhere. But the clavical is a little more perplexed then the other.

you won't miss any work if you get it put in a sling or this crazy arm band i wore. It wrapped around my stomach and had a strap that went around my forearm to hold the whole arm in place. It sucked because i had to have my mom dress me lol

100% positive you broke it. I don't care how much it'll cost you, you need to go to the ER asap. If you don't go it'll never heal right.

I suggest maybe if you know someone who can get you a sling if you absolutely can't afford it, to get you one. You might not have to go to the hospital then. But i don't reccommend that lol.....It takes 6-8 weeks to heal.

i broke mine. i was in INTENSE pain and my shoulder hung low. i could hear the bones crunching around and when you touched the bone you could clearly feel it was broken. ughh i've broken 11 bones and that one was by far the worst.

Pig STi
07-12-2009, 09:38 PM
yes i did. Like a slept on it wrong feeling kinda. And yes they can put it in a sling, but honestly that brace was awesome.

Also listen to 3rdGen- yea i left mine go because i didn't want surgery. Its 2" shorter on the left side now and my shirts fit weird lol. They healed on top of each other, i have a huge lump.

I'm serious. But there's a like 10% chance you'll need surgery don't panic. Collarbones almost never require it. Oh the neck pain goes away in a day or 2.

Willdue
07-12-2009, 09:50 PM
i really dont think its that broken. I can lift my arm half way up, shrug, and i touch that bone and it doesnt hurt

Pig STi
07-12-2009, 09:52 PM
If you get in asap tomorrow, go to the ER, they'll xray you and then take you in and get you fitted for a sling. You'll come back in 4 weeks to see how it is healing. Then you'll come back again in 4 weeks and he'll prolly say your ok, and need to do "Circle exercises" and not do any sports for another 2 weeks or so. Then its all done. All together its a 12 weeker.

Don't keep moving it around anymore until you go to the ER! Prop yourself up on pillows when you sleep. They'll tell you to do that.

Willdue
07-12-2009, 09:55 PM
im going now. im so mad at myself right now.

.

most likely not collarbone though. Sounds like a strained or torn pectoral muscle bro. that ish can be crazy painful too.

Collarbone is up around your neck i tink. Would hate to have u go to E-room w/o insurance for a strained muscle.....

PS. our healthcare system BLOWS.

Yeah hope you don't need surgery. My bill was a bit over $20,000 because I needed surgery on my arm when I broke it.

called it! well, almost. haha. knew it probably wasn't a broken bone though, no way you would be typing.

deep bruises are the WORST! you almost wish something was broken so the could do something to fix it, right? Torn shoulder muscle sounds painful too.... no more MMA moves for you for a while killer! ;)

Broke mine, fairly efficiently too. Literally snapped it in half so mine was on the worse side, yet still didn't require surgery. It's a shame I saw this thread too late, as soon as I read that you could lift your arm halfway and shrug, then I knew it wasn't broken. I couldn't do ANYTHING with mine when i broke it. Like, literally, it hurt to move my ****in elbow.

Even if it would have been broken, most hospitals won't rape you on a fracture, because they see it as a necessary fix. They didn't even report my follow up visits and **** to insurance afterwards because it was a fracture.

But pretty much, unless it requires surgery, there's nothing they can do. They put you in a sling, give you happy pills and send you on your way. However, in my case, since it was clearly split in 2 pieces, I had to be in a "Figure 8" shoulder brace to line the 2 pieces somewhat up.

^ mine wasn't that bad, i could move my arm and shrug, but my shoulder was hanging weird and i was in incredible pain.

I'v broke both mine. Sucks but theres nothing much u can do after its been set.

15 years on a dirtbike and you'll rack up some nice breaks. I wanna say I'm at around 15+ breaks and around 70-100 stitches.

I broke mine in two spots and the bone was sticking strait up bikeing. I also had a concusion at the same time so luckly I didn't feel any pain. Mine took forever and a half to heal though

yea it hurts like hell now that it has been 24hrs. It still kills in my neck to. I cant turn my head, cant bend over, have to have someone help me get out of bed, ****ing sucks.

Ive busted alot of stuff up, and besides my knee, this is close to the worst. Im more mad that im most likely going to have to take off today and tomorrow from work, until the pain goes away a little. They said today and tomorrow are gunna HURT lol. I cant train for the next 2-3 weeks ughhhh.

I went 1 week with it broken before... basically it hurts, but its tolerable. The real pain is when you go to lift your arm above your head. I couldn't put a t-shirt on and off without help.

i also went a week with it broken, i was at my girls pocono house and slipped on ice. her father who was a doctor said "oh its not broken, just bruised" when i finally got home and went to the hospital they had to re-break it because it was healing wrong... that was some painful ****!
