what do you guys think? an lt1 and a supercharger? the lt1 has just over 8000 miles yes 8 thousand miles on it. (fresh rebuild before i put it in) my goal is 400hp and 400tq think i can get that from a supercharger being that i am at 303 and 360 right now?

Well i had a 1994 camaro ss with a STS turbo kit....it made just over 400 on both sides...I think with a DECENT blower setup its def possible

I'd put a 100 shot on it and cruise it around town on motor.

at the wheels? ( a vortech will give you 400 crank with like 7-8 psi)

it would be nice to get that to the wheels but i dont know what i am going to do really i think i am just going to leave it alone and just sell it

+1 on a vortech, i have nothing but good **** to say about them!!!

vortechs are good but the one thing i like about procharger is self contained oil! you change the oil in it every time you change your engine oil. no tapping into the pan or looking for feeds its all there for you! and i have a really good friend pumping 600hp out of his mustang with a procharger!

I have Vortech on my G35 and its great. And its have a self contained oil. Every 7,500 miles you gotta change it.

i was gonna say procharger isnt the only one utilizing the self contained oil setup. However id MUCH rather tap a line than use the self contained unit. Simply because i know how often i change that oil and it would never bother me. Compared to having to dump oil into two seperate places.

IDK I personally have had much better luck running the vortech i feel the kit is better overall with better pieces aside from the head unit. I mean if i could use the Vortech kit with a procharger head unit i would be all about it.

ive always heard from a lot of the blower guys vortech is good for around 5psi but anything above that say 7-8psi theyd go procharger due to the self contained oiling systemy as stated above

Shaun, you know you what that LSx RUSH!

Seriously though, your car runs awesome as it is...if you want to make reliable (key word) power, you gotta go LSx.

yeah yeah i got the money saving up for it and i was planning on doing the ls1 during the winter!

The tuning is going to be the problem on an LT1.
Better off saving money for an LSX swap, especially if you autocross. All that weight off the front end sure would be nice.

I honestly don't think a supercharger will be required to get that kind of power at the crank. If 2rd gen small blocks are similar to first gen ones, which they are, then the real power is in the heads and the camshaft, and maybe a tune. I know that for example, the ZZ4 gen 1 small block crate engine made 385 horsepower at the crank naturally aspirated. It took a standard 350 ci block (LT1s have 350ci's too if I'm not mistaken so it's similar there) with damn decent heads, powdered metal rods to let it hit 6000 RPM, and a nice, lumpy camshaft that matched that redline and the cc's of the head, which were like, 194/150 if I remember correctly. With fuel injection, I'm sure that can climb higher with a good tune.

+1. LSX swap is better for wait and easiers to squeeze power from. You can find used LS1s with trans for like $3500.

You save weight and get better power.

LS1 with 243 heads, cam, long tubes, and tune alone will get you arround 400 with mid sized cam

Actually a Z28 converted to SS. Nice try douche.

Might as well be considered a SS being it had all the necessity's minus it had a "LT4"

But what you morons dont relize the only thing the "SS" offered was a ram air hood, different wheels, and slightly different exhaust..tranny mount and some other minor ****. And that wasnt until i think 96 when they offered that.

So yes my Z28 was a SS of its time because the REAL SS wasnt offered

point taken but you should of said you had a clone not that you had an SS thats where the problem was.

Its force of habit. When your 17 and alot of your friends dont know much about cars but the car has a "SS" badge on it...thats what you tend to hear more then anything. hey man lets take the ss...and **** like that you just get used to it. I even caught myself saying it from time to time. But i can honestly say i have never gotten any **** from telling anyone its a SS because it looked so close...Minus it had Chrome ZR1 wheels with a quad tip center exit exhaust.
Like this but mine was a SLP, with quad tips

It doesn't matter if people keep calling it an SS, you should still correct them. Thats like saying you have a Cobra Mustang just cause you swapped the bumper, hood, and wheels.... Eithe way, it is still a nice car. Nothing not to be proud of, just call it what it is.
