No thats not it.

From what I understand the firework didn't even leave the ground, just exploded in front of all the workers.

Can't even say "Man" it was a freakin 19 y/o volunteer firefighter, he was a kid for christ sakes.

I just got back from Wildwood when i heard about this, being close to home, i'm waiting to hear if it's anyone I know. Such a shame...

What a shame. 19 is WAY too young. Sorry to hear about this.

We had a few issues with mortars. 3 out of the 24 we launched in the back yard didn't have enough to them to take off and exploded at not even 1/2 height. A friend got them from the Gettysburg, PA location for Keystone Fireworks. http://keystonefireworks.com/ . A neighbor down the road had an issue with a mortar like in the video, it launched up, arched, kept just glowing green slightly and like 15 feet from the ground it exploded, luckly it went away from everybody when it launched and added like 150' additional distance so nobody was injured.

I heard about this last night on the news. :( So sad. he was only 19.

so many people died this year because of faulty fireworks. There was a big explosion in OBX that killed 3 people. Such a shame. The workers were going into the van where all of their stuff was and it just exploded. :( So sad.

I heard about this on the news. it doesn't take much to turn a fireworks show into a bad afternoon special.
i went to a fireworks show in mass one year, they set it all up the night before, over night all the mortars got wet from the dew, well they started the show and about 10 mins into it hell broke loose. Fireworks were shooting off all over the place, directly into the crowd, into other stations of fireworks, it was bad. Luckily (sadly) more people were hurt by being stampeded by the front section of the crowd then by the explosives. all in all it was not fun.

Sad to hear he was so young, and more then likely volunteering.
