JMF is good quality, MAp's stuff is good to though. I definitely thought the JMF mani was/will be more then $800 when its officially released though but don't quote me. I know it isn't on JMF's site yet, but you may want to hit JMF up quick and figure it out. I'd rather have the JMF but won't knock MAP at all cause they've been great to me every time I've dealt with them.

Well Lex has the JMF manifold, so he knows how much it is.

The president of MAP just PM'd me saying he wants to help me with my build (get me all the parts I listed). Sooo maybe I can get him to lower his price on his MAP manifold.

My $1000 cf JUN lip is gone.
Front bumper is a bit broken.
A few of my under panels are gone. Fortunately my aluminum carbing underpanel protected everything important and is in tact.

So I'm just going to use this accident as an excuse to upgrade. Someone in North Jersey has the Varis front bumper brand new for sale because he's having financial issues. The cf canards will have to be ordered and will take 4 months to get, so come spring I'll have them.

It's not THAT bad. I really did love that JUN lip though. Honestly, I shed more tears when I curbed one of my Volks last year. Now that hurt. But yeah, it's aparently mating season or something, so there are a ton of deer running around like crazy horny bastards haha. I'm just glad I didn't lose control and hit the median or something worse, or that the deer was alive and standing. That would have accumulated huge damage.

On the soon to be new jdmness man.
Haha thanks man. Ironically I have joked around that if I ever get in an accident and my JUN lip and front bumper are damaged I'd get this Varis V2 front bumper and canards. Well, it's happened haha.

They are made to order, which takes a month. Varis is a pretty small company that makes everything to order. Then there's the typical 3 month wait from JDM land.

And I have to give big props to Bogg's Auto, which is the shop that did this for me. They do not normally do aftermarket parts, but if you are ever in a fender bender of any sort I'd definitely recommend them as they do very quality work.

That is why I went there--the service manager is one of my good customers and he always talks about how they do quality work. Also, I knew that at least one car enthusiast works there, so they know how much I love my car. It's in Woodbury.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately. I realize that it's time to finish this car. I'm making end goals that can be attained this summer, and then I want to be done for an indefinite amount of time.

First thing I thought about was this entire turbo/engine build. $12,000... yeah, it's not happening this summer. I wouldn't be able to enjoy my life if I commit that kind of money, especially since in the past 3 months I already spent $6000 cash between my Prelude and the whole new front bumper ordeal.

I'm going back to my original plans. This is the end plan:

-FP Red
-FIC 1100CC injectors
-Cobb fuel pump kit
-Aquamist hsf6 kit
-KWV3 coilovers
-Ralliart taillights
-tow hook
-hks fuel rail
-paint & install my test and service rear bumper (that I've had sitting in my spare room for nearly a year now)
-ARC spark plug cover
-maybe black out headlights

That's it. I know everyone goes through phases of modding and what not, but I've said this before and I'll say it again--cars are not my life. I'm looking to leave the restaurant business for at least a few years to pursue other interests and live in a major city. I love this car, but I don't see it fitting in the years to come. I intend on finishing it, enjoying it, then leaving it behind for a while. Picking up this Prelude beater was the best decision I have made in a long time. It squeals because the PS is leaking somewhere and it's slow, but I don't mind any of that. It's liberating not being bound to a material object. When I drive my Evo I have to be cautious not to curb my wheels, watch out for cops, deal with annoying fanboys and ricers, and tell every passenger every time to watch out for that ****ing side skirt. I just want to be free, and honestly, this car is one of the things holding me back.

When I drive my Evo I have to be cautious not to curb my wheels, watch out for cops, deal with annoying fanboys and ricers, and tell every passenger every time to watch out for that ****ing side skirt. I just want to be free, and honestly, this car is one of the things holding me back.

sounds like a good plan always have been admiring this car. goodluck on everything you decide to do and i have been in the restaurant business since i was ten it can be tough lol

I was born into it. I remember all the times I had to go to hang out in the restaurant and my dad's office when my parents couldn't get a babysitter. I played SNES or saved live shrimp from being cooked.

I know this business very well and have a lot of opportunity to work around in great restaurants around Philadelphia to expand my culinary knowledge and more than likely own my own restaurant, but I'm not sure if it's the life for me. I haven't had two or more consecutive days off in over two years now. I work 6 days a week, 5 doubles, and have Monday off, which is when I usually take a night course. I take 12 credits per semester, maintain Dean's List, and handle all of our social marketing during off hours. Simply put, I need a chance to act like a young person before I wake up one day and realize I spent my youth just working. The money's been good, but my perspective regarding money has changed. I have this "MAD JDM YO" car and fancy camera lenses and a closet full of expensive clothing, but I'd give it all up for a broke ass liberal life in the a city. Money and material possessions come and go, but time just keeps ticking forward.

Yeah i remember those days as well my family has owned an italian restaurant/pizzeria and i used to hang out in there since i can remember and i want to pursue it but its like an im not sure type of thing because the way the economy has hit. i do love the business and like ive said i have been working in it since i was ten and now 21 and i do love it. its what im actually good at but the same cars are my hobby. if i have the money ill spend on the car if not ill just do other things with it.

i was in a similar position you were just replace restaurant with my family's coffee company. i did just that, put cars on the back burner and moved out with my now ex gf. i lived the broke liberal city life. it's awesome and liberating at first but trust me, it gets old quick. there's nothing fun about being broke and the stress of trying to figure out how to pay for food for the next week isn't fun either. thankfully my ex turned out to be a whore and long story short, i'm back home. i couldn't be happier to be home. i'm not preaching not to move out and do it and i would never trade in the experience but trust me, you'll want to come back to this life.

Did you have a job? Would you have moved out if you were single? Being in a relationship changes things, and while the prospect of starving is certainly a chilling thought, I'm sure heartbreak and all of the anguish that comes with breakups added to the hell of your experience.

I'm single and I'm ready for a different experience. I'll have saved up money by the time I do this, so I'll have money need be. I just want to simplify my life for a while and allow myself to live a different kind of life in a very different setting. Philadelphia is too small of a city with too short of a night life for me. I need a bigger, busier city with more culture.

still worked with my parents, made actually more money. the apartment wasn't a **** hole either. i was a stone throw away form nyc and anything close or near to a big city will not be cheap. unfortunately my ex was on unemployment because she couldn't find or hold a job (another story for another day) so i was basically feeding and supporting 2 mouths. that's why i can't preach not to do it because who knows how it would of been if i were solo. i had a cool ass roommate too and who knows what would of went down there had it just been us (no homo). idk about philly. if you're shooting for the city life, nyc is the only answer. more culture than you'll know what to do with.

make sure you stay single when you move out. those are the best words i can offer anyone.

Yo the car is insanely sick first off. And secondly I know what you mean, the other day I was looking at the paychecks and what I do with them and my free time the other day. I'd have to say beer/bars is my #1 just because theres not alot of parts out for my car yet, #2 would be my car, #3 would be girls and dating - this is probably why me and my ex gf broke up

Fujito
01-15-2011, 10:37 PM
I'm also chilling out with the dating/dining thing. I generally go out to pretty nice places to eat, not to impress the girl, but because I'm a big foodie and none of my friends really appreciate that kind of food. Amada has been my 1st date spot for the past 6 or so months, mostly because I like to park my Evo at the Ritz ($16 right there and another example of my car dictating my life).

I went out with this one girl 3 weeks ago and 10 minutes into our dinner after some basic "getting to know you" questions she straight up asked me, "is this your game?" I asked her what she meant and she said, "you know, you pick up girls in your sports car and take them to these fancy restaurants?" Needless to say I was a bit taken back. I went out with a different girl the next week and just took her to the bar we met at, in the Prelude .

After I finish the FP Red turbo stuff this spring I'm going to shift photography to hobby #1. I want a nice macro lens to really up my food and abstract photography, a 24-70 f2.8 lens, and a 5D MK2 along with more lighting accessories.

So how do I get sponsors for this car?

In terms of exposure...:
I don't go to many shows, but I go to the big ones in the Spring/summer.
I go to 1-2 meets per week during the spring/summer.
I do a photoshoot of my car about every two weeks and post the pictures up on multiple car forums.

The car is nearly done in terms of cosmetics. The last few finishing touches are going on over the next two weeks. I just need some more power.

Is sponsorship worth it? Do I call companies and ask them? What are the benefits of having sponsors vs not having any?

The one sponsor that I would really really really love to have is a tire sponsor, but I know that's damn near impossible to get unless I drift or do Time Attack, and am damn good at it.

When I had my tC I got sponsored by calling people, I called a few companies, they told me to send over pictures and a mod list and shows I went to, we went back and forth over stuff and eventually made a deal, I either got cheap prices on stuff or I'd get free stuff depending on how much exposure I got (shows, meets, etc...). The downside I had to rock there vinyl's on my car and I absolutely hated it, I liked having a clean look.

Tire companies are tricky, the third option for those is a company just looking for exposure, you might get lucky and find one that just wants a sick car to show off with there tires.

Mainly its just persistance, I bugged the **** out of companies to get sponsored, I liked it for a while but then I just wanted a normal car again. And then I ended up parting out my tC and buying a Z.

I'm dropping it off at the body shop today to get some things done. I won't be at the Woodbury meet this week, but I'll probably be out next week and it should look different.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh. I don't know. The car is nearly done. It just needs meth, an upgraded turbo, clutch, fuel system upgrades, coilovers... and that's about it. So really another $10,000 and it's over.

I'm dropping it off at the body shop today to get some things done. I won't be at the Woodbury meet this week, but I'll probably be out next week and it should look different.
$10k????? You could do a pretty nice setup for $10k. How much power you looking for as of now?

what kind of parts are you looking at thats going to cost 10k? what you listed i dont see how it would be that much.

FIC 1100 cc injectors 450
aquamist hsf6 meth kit 900
Walbro fuel pump kit 265
JMF turbo manifold ~900
FP Red ~1700
Exedy Twin disc HD clutch ~1500
H&R coilovers ~1450
titanium valve cover bolts 100

That's $7265

I'm guessing labor and retune will come to around $2000 if not more.

I originally was looking at $16,000 to do the FP Black/motor build.

I'm going to try out this chrome spray thing. One guy on this forum PM'd me about it, and evomike referred me to another place.

From what I see it can be done in a day and it looks just like chrome.

I ordered some gold titanium dress up bolts from dressupbolts.com because I'm an idiot and I like my engine bay to look pretty for some reason. I think they'll be here tomorrow or Thursday.

I think the car should be ready for pick up today (Wednesday). Now if Spock gets that HKS fuel rail in this can all come together and be ready for Thursday's Woodbury meet.

H&R. DaveSTi convinced me to get them. I don't see the point in buying KW V3's for $2000 if these H&R work well enough for the suspension guru himself, and for $1500.

Call Driveline Motoring to order those parts. ARC is gone though, so you cannot get any unless a vendor has some stocked.

The chrome headlights photograph 10x better than those that have blacked out housing. Tinted headlights are tacky. Tinted front windows are illegal in NJ and cops are relentless about it.

I originally bought the HKS fuel rail to pretty much finish up my engine bay. As you know, the factory fuel rail is perfectly fine to run with bigger builds.

What I didn't know is that the HKS fuel rail doesn't just bolt on, which has led me to bought that FPR, gauge, and some other things, all of which are to make it work.

I am going with a FP Red this summer, so it'll all work out later. I can't wait to get the H&R coilovers on though!
