Alright all you wrx tuners, I need to know if I should ditch my vf34 for the deadbolt td05H-18G, or is that turbo just to big for my stock 2.0 (ej20t)? I want more power and want better 1/4 mile times but will my stock block beable to spool this turbo fast enough and also not blow my motor or trans. My friend this forum is going to give me a killer price on the turbo, rebuilds for life and everything. I can pick up a set of modded injectors for around $300 and will flow 720cc. Im just not sure what I should do, so if anyone has any input on whether or not I should do this let me know!

IIRC Their are a few people on wrxfanatics.com who run that turbo on stock blocks, you should hop over there and get some reviews. As for blowing the trans thats all how aggressive you are, I have heard people pushing 350whp with no tranny issues and others who blow it stock.

thats probably what i am going to get. either the db 18 or super 16g. But i think the 16g wouldnt be worth the gains over your vf34 and an 18g would. 18g will probably add about 400-500 rpm more lag over your 34.

Really? Im just scared that this will be to big for the 2.0 and will blow it up. What are your opinions on this?

the deadbolt 18g is a great size turbo for the 2.0l - i know many who are very happy with theirs.

BTW - you definitely will not need 720cc for that turbo. have you seen the thread for modded injectors where you don't remove the entire cap, but just drill slightly larger holes? this provides 600cc which is perfect for that application.

i just don't think you'd ever get a great tune with that much fuel - it's unnecessary and you might actually lose hp.

Ok so you would say go with that turbo then right?? I was told by many people to go modded stocks to flow around 720cc. Also this is what my tuner wants me to go with, so I can get a safe tune that puts down in excess of 300whp. He would rather me have room to play with my injectors than to overload them.

i just can't see the reason for using that much fuel with the setup, but if that's what your tuner is comfortable with then so be it...

it's just a misconception that you can't have too much fuel. it's true that you will have a lower duty cycle with higher flowing injectors, but you will have to retard more timing for higher RPMS than you would need to with a set matched to your turbo. i'm not saying you're going to be running pig rich, but 600cc will do the job just fine. just for reference - the sti injectors are 550cc.

if you are looking for 300whp you will love a 18G. what other mods are you going to have?

I already made 300whp on my vf34. I have frount mount, up pipe, cat back, perrin pulley, ecutek, short ram intake. I want more than 300whp thats why Im getting a new turbo. I am using vf34, sti pinks, and walboro fuel pump now, but want the new injectors and turbo.

Based on this info, I would say a Super 16G would be the best bet. But if you're getting a great deal on the 18G, then you can't complain about that either.

What would be your estimate of power gained from swapping turbos? Also how fast in the 1/4mi you think this new turbo is capable of?

deadbolt says Go with at least 720cc/in models if possible.

for the super 16g.
