Unless you somehow talked your way out of it, which I doubt, they probably actually timed LJ and estimated how fast you two were going since you were all together. So, for some reason, instead of giving you all the same ticket, which they can do even by visually estimating your speed based on him (or just putting his speed if you were going faster), it sounds like they gave it to the car they actually clocked (which I guess makes sense because the city gets money and you can't fight it based on the fact that they can't accurately time 3 cars at the same time with one Tracker).

Well thats kinda wierd I was behind them both I was in the middle, lj was in the left and the Si was in the right, This is how it looked
X= Gorilla
S= Civic Si
M= Me
He clocked me at 108 and Gorilla at 98.1. This just doesn't make sense....I guess he just guesstimated my speed but We were all definatley going 110 by the Betsy Ross Bridge. Just kinda doesn't make sense, I really don't know how I got off guys
Gorilla Unit 33
12-09-2005, 05:09 AM
this is bull i dunn even know where the betsy ross is and it was like 5 minz after the civic was gone that we got pulled over such bull and by that time i was following you and wow this is bs
WhiteXFire
12-09-2005, 05:09 AM
Well, actually that makes perfect sense because, as I was telling LJ, they tend to sit behind the divider on the right at that exit, timing people as they pass the end of it. So, if you were in the back, they would have clocked whoever was in front (and probably in the left lane). Did you pass them or catch up to them?
07BlackSS
12-09-2005, 05:14 AM
All I know was the cop that clocked us pulled me over and said, after he gave me my ticket, "that he got my two buddies" and I asked him who and he told me the silver nissan and the black civic. I don't know why he let me off but he gave me a ticket for section 3111A which is a 100 dollar fine, no points and insurance will not know about it. I think they clocked gorilla and the civic and clocked me right behind him just following. That is the only reason why I think I got off was because I was following, I wonder what happened ot the Si.
WhiteXFire
12-09-2005, 05:25 AM
If he was almost exactly in line with LJ, he may have gotten the same thing as him. But, if they simply clocked LJ (maybe LJ was more in front?), he prob got the same ticket you did.
With Tracker, they time you over a predetermined distance on the road, so they have to start and stop it based on a single car crossing the points.
07BlackSS
12-09-2005, 05:27 AM
No they were about dead even....what I don't get is that we were all doin the said speed of 110. He clocked me at 108 and i got away. But a different cop gave lj a huge fine and was "clocked" at 98. Something just doesn't seem right man.

Any Philly cop on the shoulder or hiding on a ramp that pulls you over on I-95 is using Tracker. Radar detectors can't beat old-school technology of basically using a "stop watch".
Here's how it works, if you don't know...
http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=5500
Tracker is basically a competitor of VASCAR, but the same technology.

Yeah I know but thanks for the info. I have been reading up on all of this **** tongiht and learned alot. I hope my Valentine Alarm system works quite well against this ****.
LOL...NO! That's what I'm telling you. Tracker is a device installed in the cruiser that allows them to manually flip a switch on and off as you pass over spots on the road. It's nothing more than a fancy stopwatch that does other calculations. There's nothing for a radar detector to pick up. Something like the Valentine will only help you on roads like the PA Turnpike where a state trooper hits you with radar. It's much more useful in NJ and other states that use radar more widely.

12-09-2005, 08:46 AM
FYI, here's what that means:
Excessive Speeding
When a driver is convicted for speeding 31 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit, the driver will have to attend
a Departmental Hearing. The driver will receive a written notice of the specific time and location of the required hearing. The
hearing examiner will review the driving record. Upon the Department's review of the hearing file, one or both of the following
will be initiated:
1. 15 Day License Suspension
2. Special On-Road Driver's Examination
If a 15 day suspension is initiated, the driving record will show 5 points upon restoration. No points are removed if a special
driver's examination is initiated and completed.
Failure to attend this Departmental Hearing will result in a 60 day license suspension.
Oh, and for anyone young out there:
Under the Age of 18
The driving privilege of a person under the age of 18 will be suspended if that person accumulates six (6) or more points or
is convicted of driving 26 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit. The first suspension will be for a period of 90
days. Any additional occurrences will result in a suspension of 120 days. This suspension is in addition to the requirements
of the point system found below.

If you go to court and you are simply found guilty, and you don't appeal or appeal and are still found guilty, then yes. The effect of a ticket is only seen when you are convicted of the offense. If they reduce it or you plead to something with no points, then no.

I agree that it is insane. Especially if it were in any kind of traffic. But it was late at night, the roads were clear and they just wanted to get home. Obviously, the people in power don't agree that it is worthy of prison time. And I agree with that as well.
Still, some cops are cool and some are not. Too bad you got the cop that sucks, LJ. Hopefully you go to court and you get a judge that is cool. Or find a lawyer that is awesome. Good luck with it!

2point4DSM
12-09-2005, 10:16 AM
I'm guilty of going a bit too fast on public roads as well. Usually it is when it is real late at night.
Some might argue that it is probably better to drive a little faster and get home sooner than to fall asleep at the wheel. Driving a little faster also helps some people focus better on the road, late at night.

Fight the ticket, even though you guys were guilty. Most of the time, you can get the charges lowered. Sometimes, the police don't even show and the case gets dropped altogether. Good luck.

Thats sucks guys. Been nailed at that trap before also, twice to be exact. Sounds like someone got the "good" cop and the others got the "bad".
Plead not guilty and try to make a deal. Or better yet, higher a lawyer experienced in Philly traffic court, don't just higher any lawyer out of the yellow pages. It's all who you know when dealing with the courts in Philly. Its gonna cost some money, but you'll be ahead if it works out for you. 5 points and a suspension is something you don't want on your record.
We've all done the same thing, so don't sweat it to much. Trick is not to complain all that much when you get caught. Sure it sucks big time, but its a chance we all take.
Good Luck!
BTW: in Philly, the cops don't have to show for traffic court. They might be there, but chances are they won't. It will not get dismissed if they are not there.

Sorry, I will rephrase my statement. Weather it be Domestic Or Import, all the cops see are some heavy/mild/stock cars going over 100 MPH. Again we all get a bad rap, I cant count how many times a trooper or township cop has followed me for no reason what so ever.. not just some random turn left then right; im talking about for a good 30/35 min and he was going out of his town's area. Some cops followed me right into my apartment complex. If you think im wrong thats fine, I speed and I'm not going to lie about it.. but usually its not that much over the limit. Throwing stones no, mad no, pissed off at cops for thinking that everyone races and or speeds yes. H8 me if you will

Weird thing is the civic with body kit and exhaust, etc, got the lesser ticket and the bone stock altima got the worse ticket.
Not sure what the other civic looks like.
And it's weird cops follow you around for "no reason, whatsoever." I really can't say that has happened to me in the last few years even when I was daily driving my eclipse.
It use to happen to me in the past when I actually deserved it, lol. I guess I sort of made myself/my car popular in the past.
JoeScooby
12-09-2005, 12:00 PM
Thing is I never speed in towns, local roads, etc etc. I did nothing to deserve being followed. The only thing I can think of is stereotyping, again backing up my 1st post; thats what it all comes down to. Truthfully I think it goes for any type of vehicle, I have been followed by cops while on my R-6. To cops all crotch rocket riders are a bunch of speeders.

These guys were on I95, late at night it seems. Main reason Highway Patrol sits there is to catch DUI drivers. This is why I'm guessing one got off light, he wasn't drinking.

I did it as a mistake and thats the honest to gods truth don't care if you all believe me lol. I was expecting to be thrown in jail and everything and I wouldn't of mind cause I probably deserved it. However cop gave me ticket and told me to drive home. So I did. as of yesterday my ticket has finally been fixed in the court systems it was reduced to 85 in a 55 and I got 5 points. For JoeScooby, I seriously understand your rage bro! You can ask Gorilla Unit and anyone else that lives around here. WE ARE BLACKLISTED! Yes, around here, if you have any modifications on your car (exhaust, body kit, huge wing, Rims, etc.) and you are pulled over, you are automatically blacklisted. This means that a cop has a right to pull you over anytime after 12:00 at night to make sure you are not doing anything "suspicious". I have to deal wiht it all the time, especially comming home at 2:00 a.m. after closing Applebees. yes it's a bitch and I know what you mean.
In this instance, we were only doin 80 until the Si pulled next to me reved up and took off.
And Thirdly, Yes I know my car is slow, it has nothing to do wiht this thread, go back to page 2 where the joke was said and it's over. I am not offended cause everyone knows that I joke aorund about it all the time, it just gets very annoying hearing it from people I don't even talk to!
