contour electrical problem

so, a friend of mine has a contour SVT and just put in a fresh motor...but his problem is the only way he can start it is by push starting it..when then his gauges are wacky..my question is, is there a way to check the wiring harness or any ideas?

Try checking the battery conections and grounds around the battery and tray. The ground tend to corrode and cause weird electrical issues.

You do know there is a passive anti-theft system on them right?

I suggest you post over at www.contour.org in their troubleshooting section as you'll probably get faster answers on a contour.

Hopefully the fresh motor was a 3L not another 2.5!
