Sigma 10-20mm HSM?

Well i am looking to buy a wide angle lens real soon and i have been looking into the sigma 10-20mm HSM to use with my nikon d60. I keep reading mixed reviews on this lens. I would like to know what some of your experiences are with this lens. And if you can share some pics you have taken with this lens it would also be nice.

i love mine. they made a new one recently thats a constant 3.5. however some are built better than others. mine has to be realigned and if the tokina 11-16 was out, i might of bought that. still an awesome lens.

I read about some people having a problem with the lens not being sharp at all, and others have been lucky and have not had any problems.

yea when i first bought mine, it was sharp. not until recently have i noticed everything on the left of the frame is blurry/fuzzy. if you're worried about build quality, check out the tokina or if you have money to burn nikon just announced a 10-24 which im sure will be bad ass.

i waiting to see about the new nikon 10-24, and what everyone is gonna say about it. im doing my research/searching now for a wide angled lens, and thats one on the list.

ever since i got the chance to use James wide angle i was hooked. Now i just need to finish school and get working again.

The nikon is way out of my budget. From what I have read online it is going to cost more then the 12-24mm. I believe the tokina lens won't autofocus with my d60.

I can chime in on the Tokina 12mm-24mm its the lens I have on my D60. I love the lens. But the MF is a Killerrrr and I still don't fully understand exactly what type of lens the D60 needs to use for Auto focus. I got it pretty cheap from a friend so I picked it up. A couple shots through it.

I get sick of having to MF my 50mm 1.8f. I think i am going to go ahead and purchase the sigma. Lowest price i found was 370 brand new, from a guy on craigslist who has a bunch of them. Anyone know anyplace where to get them for a better price or near that price?

i got mine from a guy on nikonians about a year ago for like 350$ used, so 370 new doesnt seem like a bad price. make sure it comes with a warranty and everything

Funny you mention the warranty.The guy on craigslist kept replying back to me pretty fast, after i mentioned warranty he stopped emailing me back lol.

I have been reading about the new sigma 10-20mm f3.5 coming out in may, But i dont think i am willing spend the extra 200 on it.

You should definitly make sure the warranty is legit IMO

I'm not sure I would be able to justify 200$ just for f3.5. If you are really that worried about having the wide aperture I would get the tokina (it's 2.8 I believe)

Nice shots guys, I was going to pick this up this week but I am buying a methanol kit for my DSM instead. The lens will have to wait a little longer now LOL. Maybe by then time I'm ready to purchase it the newer version is out and the price drops a little on the 10-20mm f4.

The only real "downsides" I can see with it is the lack of sharpness in the corners/edges, slight distortion, and vignetting. One thing that scares me though are the reviews that say it could be hit or miss with sharpness out of the box.

i added the vignetting in post processing, theres no vignetting at all in the originals.
