so my buddy is looking to do a custom FMIC on his 2005 mk4 GLI. i being a mazda freak dont know ish about vdubs but i will have no problem with the fmic fabbing part.

so does anyone here know a good kit to buy or have any sweet links to a good how-to that can show me the best route for the pipes?

also is it a blow or pull through MAF stock? what else do i need to worry about like recirc hose location or any other minor details?

also will i need to tune for this to see a benefit? and/or can this be added without a tune safely?

Godspeed FMICs are good AND cheap. If he doesn't want something from ebay there are plenty of kits out there... for example:
EUROJET Street FMIC (http://www.eurojetracing.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MK4FMICS&Redirected=Y)

APR FMIC (http://goapr.com/VW/products/intercooler_fmic.html)

FORGE FMIC (http://forgemotorsport.com/content.asp?inc=product&cat=0013&product=FMINTMK4F)

and many other companies...

piping will depend on if he changed his intake manifold or not... (passenger or driver side.) You will also need to weld a map sensor bung in the piping(if id doesnt have it).. which can be found here.
map sensor flange (http://store.42draftdesigns.com/18T-MAP-Sensor-Flange-Kit_p_43.html) I wouln't run the piping underneath like neuspeed.. The did this to hide piping I believe but it just makes the piping to long.. pretty basic though. no good pictures that I can find at work how to run it but here..

If you would like to relocate the DV to the cold side you can use this.. not too sure how well it would work with a FMIC but you can trim it.. Im sure there are others just can't look to long right now.

DV Relocation kit. (http://forgemotorsport.com/content.asp?inc=product&cat=0008&product=FMDVRLK)

I dont believe you will need a tune for this(i've seen people run one w/o).. you can run meth though..(which you would obviously need a tune).. but it probably wouldnt hurt to get a reflash from your friend's tuner (assuming he got flashed by one of the companies..)...
(don't quote me on this part..)

obviously.. please someone correct me if im wrong. :o
