The races still happen. That Hess station is infamous.

haha yea i remember that mr2. I was standing so close, I actually held the camera over the car as it went by lol

i was a little crazy a few years ago. like with the white rx7 race before it crashed, I was drunk, sitting in the median as cars were flying up the street. one little driver mistake could have put me on the ground next to that deer

I used to go down there. It is probably among the top ten dumbest things I ever did. You said it about people standing too close!

The incident that finally got me to stop was one night on holstein. I was in my car facing the opposite direction of the races waiting to get back in line when the police came through. Literally right next to me a police SUV pulls up hard and out jumps two officers and a camera crew (I think it was COPS). It ended up they were going for the mustang right next to me, but I almost had a severe case of mud-butt in my shorts! How would I explain to my parents that I was racing, my car was impounded, they needed to come pick me up (possibly in Jail), and oh yeah their sons going to be on COPS!

The following day, I was washing my car and there were all sorts hand prints and scratches from people pretty much jumping over my car to get away!

i use to go down there years ago then i got cought and havent gone since. there were too many people it got crazy sometimes.

i love how people bash street racing. everyone has done it at one time or another, weither it at a light or on the highway with friends. i used to go down there all the time, and the only thing that was good about those races were the only people around were there by choice. they knew the risks and they knew the chances of an accident. the ONE good thing about it, was you weren't putting innocent people just out for a sunday drive at risk, just people who were there by choice. got any of a silver rsx? i actually did fairly well back in the day when 13 sec cars were "fast" lol. i also believe part of the reason it was so dangerous was actually the cops, thats when **** got crazy when we ran from them. many many many years ago we had an abandoned airstrip down in De we raced at RIGHT next to a police station, as long as no fights or drinking broke out they let us run. guess they figured better there then on public streets.

Junk cars racing when I worked down there. And Junk cars still racing today.
I hate the fact our city's street scene is largely based on the jokers that have been going down there for years.
