This is the New Tesla Model S. Honestly I think it is pretty amazing from what Ive seen so far. It is absolutely a step in the right direction.
Ok heres the quick stuff.
-0-60 in 5.6sec
-Top speed 120mph
-300 miles to a charge, but from what I gather, it comes with 3 batteries (160mi, 240mi, 300mi) that are easily interchangeable in like 5 min. The batteries can then be charged out of the car via any outlet. Charge time is only 45min for the 300mi battery. So this can in many ways gets rid of the hassle of having an electric car.
-Price: $50K after a $7500 government rebate.
-has 2 trunks one front one back.
-Seats up to 7 people.
And its a real looker too:

Very pretty car. Reminds me a bit of the new Jaguar XF with wheels from a Z4, or a McLaren SLR.

How many MPG are these expected to get?

They dont dude, they are full electric. they cost around $4 to charge their biggest battery, and thats like every 300 miles. Tesla says they are twice as good as hybrids in this regard.
I was hoping someone would fall for that and start looking on google

its only 40 miles on a full charge. i think a full charge is like 13 hours, someone correct me if im wrong, but those are the specs from the tesla roadster.
its rather disappointing. great cars, but electric cars still have a long way to go before they can make real road-use of them.

Ha, i remember reading that the roadsters had to have their 1st gear disabled because the damn torque from the electric motors just ate them apart. They still did the 0-60 in an impressive time.

wait, i thought the tesla only has one forward gear and one reverse gear??
unless it does have 2 gears and the first one is locked out...

"The company previously worked with several companies, including XTrac and Magna International, to find the right automatic transmission, but a two-gear solution proved to be too challenging. This led to substantial delays in production. At the "Town Hall Meeting" with owners in December, 2007, Tesla announced plans to ship the initial 2008 Roadsters with their interim Magna transmissions locked into second gear limiting the performance of the car to less than what was originally stated (0-60mph in 5.7 seconds instead of the announced 4.0 seconds). Tesla also announced it would upgrade those transmissions under warranty when the final transmission became available."

I love it that's friggin sexy.
Wow...that is REALLY nice...I think Tesla might just be able to swing this as long as they don't drop the ball and can drop the price just a little bit more (smaller 2 door, non-sports car maybe?)
