check your cam follower in your high pressure fuel pump. i neglected doing so for 54k miles and this is the end result

its interesting as this was a big debate in the mazdaspeed community but we havent seen any negatives of upgraded internals.

i can't blame it on the upgraded internals because i neglected to check my cam follower. i always saw the threads on the gti forums and brushed it off.

what i learned though is that the internals of our hpfp are identical.

carpe diem industries makes a hpfp rebuild that works for both our cars. my buddy just installed it in his speed6 but he said there's a recall on the piston and has yet to test it out

i think our followers are alittle different in design. something about how the oil system ties in. its early so i cant think too hard lol. It doesn't mean it couldn't cause a problem but it makes it safer on the next weakest link.
