I got a key stuck in an ignition and when pulling it out it broke. Anyone have any experience with a locksmith that they would recommend? I'm also not looking forward to getting bent over and taken up the ole highway.
Thanks!

A couple times. If the car doesnt have an Immobilizer you might be better off getting a replacement mechanism and mated key from a JY. They usually have tons of them on the shelf

my ignition got messed and i ordered a new one and changed it out by myself. Was quite easy compared to the hassle of getting a locksmith. but if you're looking to get the broken key out of your current ignition, i have no recommendations bro, sorry.

Yea I was thinking. I found a locksmith for $75 for everything no hidden fees so I'll try them to get it out. Looks like it might not be that hard.

Yea I have to do more research, the ignition cylinder probably pops out right? I looked and the metal part is like bolted to the steering column.

dude i am a total newb when it comes to DIY on a car. I got the new ignition cylinder from the dealer already assembled. It was rather straightforward. However, even though i drive a focus this may apply.......since the key is stuck you may be screwed...if i remember correctly i had to turn the key to a certain position so the cylinder lined up to slide it out.

Paid $140 to have it drilled so it can be started with a screwdriver. Wheel stayed locked and couldn't drive it after I did for like 100 ft. and you have to hold it in ON to keep the car running. Wonder how bad they'll pound my asshole for an ignition cylinder and key installed

You don't need to drill a ignition cylinder to replace it right?

I just don't see why you actually paid 140 to let some dude drill your ignition. Thats when he says 140, you laugh and tell him to beat it.

When a key is stuck in your ignition you cant just pop out the cylinder, it MUST be drilled. Just found that out from ToTheIX's
