stay away from ZZP. stay away from canned tunes(intense, trifecta, etc.)

OTTP(over the top performance) is the best. they are out of michigan and they are 2 guys running a business.

cobaltss.net is a good place to find information, but theres also a ration of 6 to 1 in favor of crap to good information over there. if you have any questions, PM me, i used to own one, until i traded it for the sti.

Nice, and I like how it doesn't have the usual SS wing either.

the reason i said OTTP is because they are on a forum im on(sorry invite only lol) and tehy hook us up with some discounts, hardcore and are ver very reputable.

go to cobaltss.net and search twincharge. they made 254 wheel hp twincharged. the GM stage 2 kit with full exhaust has dynoed higher. they bash members and other vendors, so i tell everyone to stay away, bash members and still make money... i dont think so.

Yeah HP tuners works well with the cars. Nice thing is if you get another Gm car can still use the tuner with it.

I've been driving a Cobolt Lt for the last three weeks as a rental, hope the SS is WAY better than this hunk.

The SS is a totally different beast. Same interior though.

I think in those Cobalt SS's you can drop the pulley size down one step smaller to get yourself some more boost possibly? We can do that in our cars however you guys are lucky with the cobalt's because your car has an intercooler from the factory. Stock my car has a 3.8" pulley and you have to do a few simple "safe" mods to keep the KR (Knock Retard) down to drop to a 3.5" pulley. Just don't do what alot of people do and drop the pulley down without keeping and eye on KR first. An Aeroforce Interceptor gauge or using the HP tuner program to monitor your cars functions helps.

The base model Cobalt has the 2.2 Ecotec N/A while the SS has the 2.0 Ecotec SC. In 2008 they came out with the turbo version which is nice i have heard. I have the 2.2 Ecotec in my base model Cavy and I am very happy with it for a DD beater.

the seats and some of the little stuff is different(boost gauge, speedo design and lettering, etc.)

they are fun cars. make some decent power, tvs or turbo swap is where the real power is at, stay away from cams, they are too much hassle for the 5hp gain you get. unless again your turbo, then its a little different. do not go under a 2.9" pulley with out some sort of cooling, heat exchanger, meth etc. you can pick up a heat exchanger off a cobra and it will work great. also do not go under a 2.9 with the stage 2 42# injectors. the stock injectors i believe are maxxed pretty much from factory so dont change pullies on the stock injectors, stock i believe are 34# injectors. do not go below a 2.7 pulley unless you have serious cooling, like meth, h/e and everything, these motors havea fuel problem and dont distrubute fuel to the 4th cylinder when making more power, so more heat, less fuel equal a kaboomed 4th cylinder. seems to be the biggest issue. many places offer a return style fuel system. which is a little pricey, but will allow to make alot more power without worry of the 4th cylinder going. my head is burning. like i said need anything, PM me, i think i still have a few things lying around from mine.

the "intercooler" stock doesnt really help, alot of people add heat exchangers, off a cobra, or from OTTP, cobalt addiction, etc. because the stock "intercooler" does not cut it at all.

Interesting. I have heard of people swapping different IC setups onto those cars but didn't know the stock IC setup was not that good? I guess its because the M62 must be spinning much faster then my stock M90.

What pulley does that car come with stock? Does it come with like a 3.0" or something? Whats the smallest pulley you can run on a M62?

3.1 i believe is stock. 2.99 is the stage 2 pulley i believe.

people ran 2.3" pullies for a little, but the general concensus is a 2.7-2.6 is the lowest you should go.

sweet guys thanks for all the input, im pretty sure im gonna do a 2.7 pulley first. Ive heard from other people about the 4th cylinder head not getting enough gas. How much would meth injection run me? What company would you buy from for the pulley, Jpegs?

Before going with balls to the walls power like that, do some homework on EVERYTHING that is needed. DOn't just toss the pulley on, and hope for the best. Injectors, cooling, h/e, tuning, all of that.

Also, with that much more power, consider brakes too.

But, happy modding, should be awesome. :supz:

2.7 requires 60's without a doubt. also meth and heat exchanger are needed too. teh thing with teh m62 is it creates a lot of heat ad loses its effieciency range very fast. there are people on 2.8's making a lot more power then people on 2.7's hell a guy on a 2.85 ran a 12.5 in the 1/4 mile. dropping pullies on these cars does not always equal power. wheel hop is another problem. there are rotated mounts and stuff to help/eliminate it as well. tuning on these cars. alot of the tuners(the good ones) say these cars make their power with a afr of 11.7, thats the best AFR to tune to.

You can purchase an aftermarket Brembo kit for around $750, but you need the 09 wheels to clear the brakes. There are many clearance issues as I'm looking for a set of winter tires, but they must be at a min 17" in diameter due to the Brembos.

that sounds good, what is that about $500-$600, when we do the injectors we should replace the spark plugs
