Which is better a EVO or a STI?????

I have a friend with a Evo 8 and he feels like its his job to tell me how much better Evos are then a STI. So im posting this to see what everyone really thinks. Which car is really better?????:mrgreen:

better? neither have anything close to a comfy interior, both are fast, evo has more potential, nothing sounds as sweet as the sti exhaust note.

personally.. i think they are both nice cars.
evo's i feel are more rare to see and i am impressed with the look of them and their potential as well.

the good thing about evo's is that they have better handling, better braking, better track car, can make lots of power with simple mods, can handle lots of boost.

while the good thing about sti's they make more power, faster in straight line. however even though they make more power they tend to blow piston rings if you go too high.

I've found the stis have an easier time handling off road which is the main reason I got mine. The evos can do it but the car sounds and feels like it's about to fall apart and doesn't get as much grip. both cars had the stock sti and evo mr tires so I don't know if the mr tires are more grippy on road than the stis

As for the new Evo vs. STi. They both are pretty weak compared to their predecessors but I'd go with the Evo since it isn't a wagon.

Having driven both, hopefully like the others who've taken the time to comment on them in this thread, I would say depending on what you're going for with the car.

Evo, cheaper to mod, looks a lot meaner, and can handle ass loads of power. However, the interior is about as attractive as a paraplegic super model.

STi, not cheaper to mod, depending on the body style has a more aggressive look to it, can handle consistent and unnecessary beating (yay Subaru engines) and sounds like sex with the right exhaust, can't beat the rumble. The interior is much more bearable for a DD.

If the car is staying stock, STi
If you have the money to mod it, you can't go wrong with either, however like Phate1229 said. The handling off road and on road of the STi may just be a tad better than the EVO, being that the car isn't lowered.

EVO looks better on the inside and the outside. It is also faster and cheaper to mod. To be honest, I don't see a lot of STi's making that big of power, and when they do, they run 11's.

I have seen a whole slew of EVO's making tons of power, whether it be 400whp, 600whp or 1000whp. And what is really funny, is even the 400whp ones run very impressive times.

The only positive thing I see about the STi...would be the sound it makes.

Yea no I know there are a lot of guys out there that have needed to get tranny's built most 400+HP cars have had to or will . I guess a lot of it has to do with

1. How much racing you do.
2. How often the fluids are changed/Type
3. How much driving experience one has

I'm hoping to hold out long enough to get the Bottom end, Head, and Trans done all at once. A lot less headache. The TOB can be a cock :mrgreen:

Solely based on sound/looks, if I had to have one or the other, I'd go for an Evo - I like their sound and look much, much more. I've heard it's easier to make more power for less money with Evos but I, of course, wouldn't know.

It is def way cheaper and $ per return is much greater modding the EVO. To me the EVO is way easier to work on, handles a bit better and also looks much nicer.

I feel the sound of a STi is like secs to the ears, the car has a more forgiving suspension in street form, and chics seem to dig Subaru guys :lol:

I chose the EVO :mrgreen: and 4-5 years later I couldnt be happier

In my everyday travels I do see and always have more STis than Evos. As the older Evolutions are getting cheaper you'll start to see more on the roads. I remember back when I got mine the only time I'd see another were at meets or Track Days

I've only driven a Sti. It's my friend and it drives smooth and from what he said, Stis' has a better transmission than EVO. A lot of EVO nowadays are beaten and abused IMO
