You have to admit, you've kicked and tapped some things before to make them fit or work better.:)

I kick my bumper around to make it fit, but that's cause I've hit all kinds of **** with it.

A good friend of mine used to work for Honda in Ohio, and he told me the hammer handle in the door slam is a common practice to align body panels FWIW

I know that BMW's and Merc's were very reliable until today. They are decreasing in reliability.

its not realy as bad as i say. i just wish it was a little nicer. i need 2 pass side doors, a rear bumper and a few little here and there things. not to mention its got 184k on it.
does anyone know if my clutch cable can be adjusted? the clutch isnt slipping but it doesnt catch till the pedal is almost all the way out

Sounds more like the previous owner did not care for the car.

lots of service records, its just that the bumper has a "stress" mark in the paint and for the 2 doors they are just not something i feel like taking the dents / door dings out of

its a 14 year old car :bigeek:
Anyway, I have to agree that some old the newer German stuff doesn't seem to last that well. Friend of mine's S600 basically went to hell in a handbasket, with some hydrolic lines breaking in the car, spitting its fluids all over. This, after one of the water-air IC pumps went, amonst other things. His dealership is blaiming the modifications to the exhaust and suspension controls on these failures.
Another friend, his 24v VR6 FINALLY got out of hte shop yesterday due to a warped head. That car doesn't even have 65k on it yet (2004), and has already had quite a few parts that needed to be replaced, and he doesn't even beat on it.
A few others I know with older Mk2 VWs, still run like champs, hundreds of thousands of miles later (like, a stg. 3 s/c'd VR6)

makes me feel better that my bumpers are ziptied on :)
At least the panels line up. I can't think of any specific ones off the top of my dome, but a few cars these days have misaligned panels. At least attempt to fix that **** before it goes on the lot.
