Well, I am not sure if anyone has been keeping up with my car, but I just got some pretty aggresive fitting wheels that didnt fit with the current fender lip. About 35 hours of grinding has allowed them to fit properly--- now I need to spend some money on the proper coilovers/camber plates to finish the job. I do have a fender roller thats going to help as well... but whatever I think they look good...

Notice the little "oopsy" in the fender... ha 3 of the 4 corners has one--- but I would rather do it myself with some uh-oh then have paid to get it done.

They are made of kryptonite correct? lol! For those who didn't keep up, the fender lip on the inside was not allowing the fitment of his new wheels, so he had to grind it down to get them to fit.

Fenders are all metal, hand crafted. The inner side of the fender had a thick piece of metal as the "skeleton" that the actual metal of the fender was laid over it. While structurally wild it definately restricted the amount of offset I could run. I trimmed it off then spent hte resot of the time smoothing the inner fender as i dont want it to cut into the tire.

Its hard to tell from the picture, but it was a lot of work... Ill take better pictures when I undercoat them.

Ok I got ya... that looks like exactly what we did on the Supra (well, what Bill did). What did you use to get the job done? I've seem some guys use cut off wheels to remove most of the material but thats could be a little risky. Bill just used a mini orbital sander to take his time and keep things under control for a nice clean finished product.

I've done this to about 15 cars now. I've used a cutting wheel and several varieties of orbital grinders,
but I find a nice hard grit pad on a small orbital or DA is what works best, allows you to maintain a nice
smooth line so that the final sanding and sealing isn't as extensive and strenuous. Looks good though,
glad to see you taking it into your own hands to get some bad ass wheels on there :)

I used a rotozip. Orbital is going to come after I use the fender roller to get that last bit of clearance. Then undercoating. 3 of 4 fenders got ****ed up when I was doing it. Either the blade caught an edge or just a stupid mistake-- Nothing a little paint cant fix

Are you pulling the fenders with the roller, or are you just leaving that little bit of a lip and then rolling it flat?

looks great man. those wheels fit your car so much better (fitment and the overall look) than the sportmax wheels you had. im rolling my fenders soon too (i picked up some new wheels as well :) ), i think i'm going to buy the fender roller from harbor freight. what kind of fender roller do you have?

I think you guys mean rotary not orbital..Like an angle grinder?

the fender roller will be used to pull the fenders a little more in the rear. There is no more lip to push under...
Not sure what type of roller it is either....

Less is better in this case. I really think no matter what wheels are put on this car, I still won't like it. I'd take a stock z over this anyday.
But I like the wheels...

The most important thing is that you like your car...
With that said, i think you started off quite well with the rear and then just killed the front end...
This is a great example of what a widebodied Z should look like:

a Z should be "widebody" with bolt on flares anything molded looks like poop
who ever built that car had no taste

The Z looks great streeteg and glad you didnt sell it. The wheels are killer!!
The other Z's posted by guys that felt the need to show pics of what they think a Z should look like are nice to but theres no point in it? Not like he's going to call you for advice? Switch up his build plan to suit what you think it should look like? If you posted your car up to show and someone started posting pics of better looking ones in their eyes maybe then you would see how it makes no sense.

Well at the least Supraholic has a pretty sick build going on--- which makes me care about one notch more then I do about Fagoncots---so that brings it from about 0 to 1. But other then that while I cant make everyone happy I sure as hell love working on the car and cant wait until summer!
