I took a trip next door to Valley Forge park to try and find a hawk or two. This one let me follow it around as it hunted, ate lunch, then flew off into the park. All were with the D3 and 300 2.8.

Thanks. Definitely awesome to watch them hunt down their prey.
No 2x on there?
I did have it on at first, but with these shots I had to take it off because I got so close (~20 feet).
Wow! Great shooting... love that lens. Is that a nikor?
Yes, it is the Nikon 300 2.8 AF-S (non VR).
^ yeah it is a Nikkor as far as I know from his previous posts. Amazing pictures.
Thanks, all my glass is Nikon except for my Tokina 12-24.
Love #3 :)
Thanks. How is your pup doing?
Great shots, as usual!
Thanks.

At first, it was a little skittish. After an hour or so, it got used to me following it around watching it hunt. I tried to coax it to fly by getting really close, but it just sat there.
Great pictures Rich. So clear and sharp!
Gotta love the 300 :)
great series.
Thanks. I figured the blood may attract more viewers :)

Yeah Bryan, just the 300. I had to actually back away from the hawk to get a good comp on the bird at times. I was pleased with the results.
