I hope their next sports car is pure dirt ball ... I mean how can a company whose motto used to be bred/born from racing (i forget which) NOT have a sports car.

For christ sake, the god damn acura TL has a more powerful motor than the nsx!

Wasn't the s3k concept that hideous thing which had a front end that looked somewhat like a squished version of the new civic?

so toyota fails? the number one car manufacturer in the world?

and they are planning the fc concept which will be a high output fuel cell powertrain.

^^ yea toyota and honda both fail from an enthusiasts standpoint.

the fc is "to satisfy enthusiasts in a world beyond petroleum"

ndubz
01-26-2009, 06:57 PM
Yes, but the FC isnt out yet. Ever since they ended the supra, all performance has been thru lexus at high prices. So ya they do fail for enthusiasts. Like I said, any company w/o performance cars.

like the ctr. people would go crazy for either the jdm or edm one. the US just doesnt have a market for toy cars right now.

sucks big time. they gotta look out for themselves now. economy is bad and dumping all this money in the nsx project just did not seem worth it to them i guess.

it might have been released in japan in 98. i just remember seeing the prototypes as 98's and it was called the ssm or something like that. i was lookin for one when i sold my gsr and didnt come across a single 98, they were all '99+

but i would love to see those wheels

highly coveted for the A-stock class.

for my class I can run whatever but the stock wheels "IMO" have a offset that I respect personally. I may go aftermarket but I like the jdm wheels ALOT.

I know right now Honda is in "safe" mode, cutting the cars and projects that aren't selling well/won't be big sellers. Afterall it is business survival first and small sports cars really aren't big sellers. Heck, the S2000 is lucky it made it through 09, never was a very big seller unfortunately.

I guess we'll see what they come out with in the future, I just don't see Honda not producing a sports car when they have the option.

they really didnt sell alot due to the trans clatter and location of it. thats a big thing that deters potential buyers... the newer ones have tried to eliminate it but its there... sounds like crap with the top up... top down non noticeable.

Honestly they didn't sell well because they were very small and didn't have enough torque for most people. Still really want to buy one though, still waiting for the prices to come down a bit though.

01-27-2009, 01:51 PM
its unfortunate but not a big loss. The s2k was a decent car to just zip around in, but i think it was just way to small. Im a bigger guy, so i felt like i was stuck in the car, and then weighing it down lol but i still enjoyed driving it. I was never a big fan of sport coupes like that. always liked hatchs or atleast sedans.

Tyler

it's unfortunate but honda did not sell a lot of them recently so it's not suprising

I always wanted an 05 Suzuka blue S2k, mainly because it was the first sports car I've ever driven, and that was the year and color of it.

I'm 6ft, and I felt I fit perfectly in it, and all the controls were in the best possible places.

Those cars were the best thing abut working at Hanover Honda, other than the 6sp Accords and getting pushed around in the red rhd sm600 coupe they have.

I'm going to get one sooner or later.

Like everyone else said, it sucks that auto makers can't afford to build cars suitable for enthusiasts. I hope we are not at the end of gasoline powered sports cars. That would suck.

^^ hey man, you dont go to Brookdale CC by any chance do you? I see a silverstone ap2 there once in a while. I used to have a silverstone ap1 that I drove there in the fall semester.

It is sad that they dropped the s2k cars but in time they will create another sports that will out do the previous s2k's. I doubt the value will go up as there are way too many out there and there arent too many trim options out there for them. I will get one soon again as it was the nicest car I ever owned.

i am NEVER getting rid of this car. as far as whoever said they dont have enough torque to be fun rwd cars. have you ever driven one? i can get sideways all day long if i wanted, lol. and the car is so damn balanced and one of the most controllable rwd cars i have ever driven. i am the biggest honda nut ever, but i think its a good time to end the s2k, they had many years, time for something new :supz:
