I went and transferred the title and picked up my new daily driver. 1997 Ford Crown Victoria LX. 4.6L SOHC V8. (same motor as the 96-98 Mustang GT) About 113k miles. Tan leather interior. Full power. Has a cracked intake manifold (which is common on these motors, happened with a lot of the mustangs and crown vics, or anything with this motor really) I have the paperwork for the recall on it, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get it fixed for free or cheap. Otherwise I'll be doing it myself, which is not too bad anyways, the manifold is like $250. The whole car is in pretty darn good shape. The kicker? I only paid $600. ON TO THE PICS! Sorry they are so blurry, its freezing out and my hands aren't too steady!

I LOVE these wheels!

Nice little shine under all that dirt and brake dust. Should look pretty good once I get them cleaned up and polished

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

blues brothers ftw

Good deal. We had the same intake problem on mine a few years back. As you'll probably realize, like most Panther platform owners, it will be one of the most reliable cars you will ever own. In six years and 70,000 miles, we've replaced just the brakes, fluids/filters, intake (due to the stock plastic crossover), plugs, and wires. That's pretty much it. It has only been to the dealer once for the cruise control switch recall.

Anyway, congrats. If you have any questions, let me know. I know a little bit about these cars.

Yea I'm not gonna lie I'm pretty excited to get it on the road. I actually have the paper work for the recall, I have to look into that. (maybe get it fixed free or cheap?). My plans are just subs, and probably gonna weld is some flowmasters or magnaflows.

i dont think you will get anything on the recall because of the time frame since the car was made...i had the same problem with my 98 mustang and i was told that the recall didnt hold up anymore because of the time frame..i missed by like 3 months or something

either way, good luck...the fix is cheap either way if you can get the work done for little/no money

Yea I'll be doing the work myself if it comes to that. I was thinking about doing a PI intake mani swap but its not even worth saving the extra money on the manifold compared to the hassle it is to do the swap. The NPI mani is like $250

While I'm sure you know what he means, I think it's the super politically incorrect way of saying make it into a donk.

no I got real lucky getting it actually. My friends gf (who I'm friends with to, henceforth referred to as my friend) had the car and one day was driving and the intake manifold cracked. This is a normal problem for these motors. She got it towed to a salvage yard/shop which was owned by a friend of hers friends father or something, and he was going to buy the car from her. He had put a deposit on the car but didn't have all the money and couldn't get it for like 2-3 weeks. I told her "eff that kid sell it to me" and she was like well lemme see what he wants to do. She ended up just giving him his deposit back and selling it to me instead because I had the cash, and he was getting locked up for something.

Your plans look good. If you're looking to lower it and don't want to cut your springs (or go with airbags), I highly recommend www.Coilsprings.com. That's where I had my lowering springs made, and I'll be going back and getting another set this summer (to go another inch lower).

You'll need spacers with Mustang wheels. Just a heads up.

looks like it will turn out nice if you stick to the plan i like it

lol honestly I really doubt I'll do all of that. I love the wheels that are on it so they are staying for a while, I'm not lowering it on springs, because I would prefer to keep the ride quality. Only way I'll lower it is on air bags. I do want to tint it though and take the chrome trim off, take the mufflers out, and throw 2 12's in the trunk.

The HHP wheels are nice. I think you get a nicer rear axle with the handling and performance package. Its still a tank no matter how you look at it though. I had an 87' and a 91' I played with and now Im thinking about finding a newer P71 for a fun daily while gas is cheap.

Just an update! A week and $4xx later, its now on the road, running, and has 2 12's goin in the trunk. Just need a box. woot! Took me like 4-5 hours to do the manifold but all seems well (for now lol). I need to get it cleaned up then I'll get some better pics.
