How many years back does the manufacturers warranty go to cover faulty CC? Is it 8 years/unlimited mileage?
It's on a 2001 Cadillac Seville STS. It needs to be replaced to pass inspection and I was thinking it may be covered under warranty still.
We recently sent a woman to chevy with her 01 camaro. Had around 70K on it. They replaced it free of charge even though it was her fault since she allowed it to misfire for the past 10K miles.

Do you happen to know what the federal law mandates as far as replacement? I thought there was like an 8 or 9 year period with unlimited mileage where manufacturers were forced to replace faulty units under federal law.

No problem
Sorry. Knew it was 8 years. Unsure of mileage.

It's cool. The caddy has 110k miles. :( Looks like the dealership's not flipping the bill.
**** really? i just spent 300 bucks on a new one. It was misfiring due to a bad injector just before i bought it. a week afterward, the cat threw a code. damn that really paints my spatch black.

I coulda sworn it was 90K miles for GM, my dad took his Blazer to the dealer with 89,997 for something I can't remember what it was and said there was something rattling under the car too, so they replaced the cat for free while it was there. Still doesn't help you though. You could probably buy a univeral hi flow cat for a lot less than a factory one, if it's over 5 years or 50K miles I'm pretty sure it should pass inspection with a non-factory cat.

In 2006, I had my 1990 Jeep Wrangler cat, rotors, e-brake, and other pieces replaces free of charge at a dealership due to old, never taken care of, recalls. It wouldn't hurt to call the local dealer with your VIN and check for recalls.
