celica owners prove me wrong

alright im not here to cause a fight but im sure i will. but why is it i have never ever ever ever seen a clean most-recent generation celica? the older ones are awesome, lagos for exaple your car is very well done and tasteful. but what is it about the newest boystyle that attracts chicks with windsheild banners and guys with the fast and the furious complex.

saw three today. all with misfitting body kits, mismatched paint work. giant wings and the best was on broad st today around 1:30... his "mesh grille" was flapping in the wind.

so defend the celica. post up some well executed examples and prove me wrong.

I have never seen a mismatched celica. the worse I see is celicas with veilside bodykits which we all know are horrendously gaudy to begin with.

It's so striking how similar Celicas and 350Zs look. Mainly the headlights.

There are some cool looking ones out there. You'll see a lot of them if you go to the car shows. However locally I dont know of any.

There is also a huge divide between the 7th gen community and all the rest of the celica owners. Somehow they totally separate themselves off into their own corner and never bother to acknowledge or learn anything about the other generations. In all the years that I've owned my car, I have never had a single 7th gen owner walk up to me and realize what my car was (or what my car was trying to be) or what was done to it, and how it relates to the history of the car. They just have this unrealistic attitude that since their car is newer, it must somehow be better.

We also have a lot toyota meets in our community, and for as many as I have setup, I have never seen any of those guys even try to participate.

That would be smaay he made his own kit for it and I haven't checked the celica board lately but last I knew he was working on making a turbo kit to sell.

Here is a pic of my girlfriends Celica. It may not be of everyones tastes here but show some respect, its her car and she does the work on it. Paint job is all airbrushed, she is currently building a fiberglass enclosure for her sound system, car is very clean. Nothing all ghetto rigged and mis-matched here...She also goes to shows with the car club C4. She wasen't able to attend many this year, but the car will be back for next year, she has won numerous trophys at many shows.

I think Toyota tried to design it to be too aggressive from the factory. Then, aftermarket vendors who typically release parts to make it look more aggressive vs. more visually pleasing do just that - attempt to make it MORE aggressive looking. So what you end up with is a bunch of overdone body kit parts with sharp angles and too much noise going on instead of focusing on clean lines and overall flow.

Oh, I agree with you wholeheartedly. My point was that the factory might have tried too hard out of the gates. So the aftermarket community then feels they need to one-up Toyota because it is a pretty aggressive body from the factory.

Sure there are some tasteful kits out there, but there are also a lot of gaudy, way too aggressive kits in my opinion (although, the same goes for every popular car).

the guy i bought my steering wheel from had a really sick celica... i was impressed. it was dark blue and like 600+ whp i think? totally built motor and big turbo of course. definitely not the norm for the latest body style celica.

and those GT-4s are so badass... no doubt.

Thanks man, my girlfriend doesn't let anyone get to her when shes building her car. After all it is HER car and SHE pays for it, so she will build it as she pleases.
