...We don't have any details besides these shots of a dashboard emblazoned with a SHO trim level moniker. It's safe to guess the new "Super High Output" Taurus will have the same flavor of Ford's wicked Ecoboost technology as that found in its platform-mate, the Lincoln MKS AWD, which would mean the same rumored 350 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque...

It will be. It'll be on the same platform to compete with the Cobalt SS T/C, which, by the way, would be bitchin' considering how nasty T/C'd Cobalts turned out.

Um, the cobalt is not a similar car to the taurus. The Focus RS will take that spot. And YES the new cobalt SS is a savage. But the new taurus SHO shouldnt be FWD it wont work in its target market segment. It will just get sh*t on by its competition. it needs to be RWD or at least AWD.

Uhh ya dude, cobalt is the competitor to the focus. Taurus is a bigger car and is priced differently. Its not in the Cobalts class. This is more of a Charger RT, pontiac G8 competitor. and it will be sh*t on by both if its FWD.

I was hoping they would bring the SVT Fusion out first, that's going to be a sweet car, aimed to compete with the Audi S4:

AWD
6 Speed transmissions

Also, the Taurus and Cobalt are in completely seperate classes, the Taurus would compete with the Impala/Malibu SS from Chevy, the Focus is the Cobalt rival. The current 263hp 3.5L V6 in the 08 Taurus gets the car moving pretty well, 350 should definitely get the job done.

Disagree, Ford now has surpassed Nissan and many others in initial quality, the 2009 Fusion (my car) made top of the list for most reliable 2009 vehicles. Ford is making a big turn around, which is helping keep on top of the other Detroit automakers and some of the Japanese brands.
