Best Road To Drive On

In your opinion, what is the absolute best road to drive on and why(in the tri-state area)? Keep in mind chained-together turns, straightaways, etc. Yes, I am stealing this idea from Top Gear.

There are also all kinds of twisty back roads up near where I moved to in Perkasie. Lot of fun up here. Around Lake Nokamixon there are also a bunch of really good roads. Some go from paved to gravel to paved again, so it's exactly my element since I really enjoy that stuff.

If ur loking for long straight road, I295 in jersey between the Bordentown and Mt. Holly exits. Huge straight for like 2mi, trees on both sides. I cant tell u exactly how i know this is a great straightawy, because it is possible that an officer of the law may read this and I dont want to loose my license. but just take my word for it...Its good enough. LOL

79 going from pittsburgh to calu!!! no cops at all and noone is like ever on it!!! me and my friend did 115 side by side like the whole way after a pirates game one night it was pretty sweet....and extremely dumb. Also is a pretty smooth road and the bends arent to bad

I love Lincoln. Take it everytime i go to the rents and enjoy never touch the break. The best part is it's 25mph, everyone goes 50 minimum and there is a police station on the road.

This is true, and they had it all nicely paved a while ago, well at least the entering section. I can still tear ass on it though, I just don't go much anymore.

As for the police station, I just kinda coast by it and then haul again. I had fun on there once when some asshole in an old caprice honked at me becasue I passed him (with plenty of room) and he beeped at me and started tailgating me so i flipped him off and hauled the drive...stupid mother****er actually tried chasing me haha I thought he would crash on every corner.

2008 - As of August 11 Three deaths: One sportbike went off road and hit tree near Thunder Road Bend. One cruiser went off road in Ron's Run with rider suffering heart attack. One trike went off road and struck tree.
2007 - Three deaths: One low side at Guadrail Cliff. Trike versus a vehicle near the Wall claimed the lives of an older rider and his passenger. Both accidents in July.
2006 - Two deaths: One rider went off road and hit tree another low sided into an oncoming vehicle.
2005 - Three deaths: All three deaths involved failing to negociate corners - two went off the mountain and one slid into an oncoming vehicle.
2004 - Two deaths: Both deaths apparently caused by speed and then overbraking.
2003 - No deaths: There were several deaths in the surrounding area of the Dragon, but none that we know of on the 11 miles of the Dragon itself.
2002 - Two deaths: On June 16 a 29 year-old Dale Bently a Valkyrie rider from Michigan died on the Dragon. The rider was passing a car near the Horns of the Dragon when he wrecked and suffered fatal head injuries. The second death occurred on Sunday August 4 when Lendry R. Obanna Jr., 24, of Jacksonville, Florida, lost control of his 2000 Yamaha R6.
2001 - Two deaths: The entire Blount County (home of the Dragon) saw a total of four motorycle fatalities in 2001. The total includes the deaths of a 27-year-old Knoxville man who died March 10 in a collision on Old Knoxville Highway in Rockford, the May 5th death on the Dragon, the July 5th death of a 43-year-old Maryville man in an accident on Happy Valley Road, and the October 27th death on the Dragon.
2000 - One death: Blount County had four motorcycle deaths in 2000 including one fatality on the Dragon.
1999 - One death: Only one motorcycle death in 1999
1998 - No deaths: No fatal motorcycle crashes in 1998.
1997 - One death: A single motorcycle fatality is listed in 1997.
1996 - One death: A single motorcycle fatality in 1996.
1995 - Two deaths: In 1995, two men died in separate July 3 motorcycle crashes on the Dragon during the July 4 holiday weekend.

hands down the best roads to drive on. you can go all the way out to green lane on twisting backroads so you dont have to just stay in one area

anyways, Swamp Creek road in Green Lane is amazing. I drove for 20 mins one way at an average of 40mph and could have still kept going haha... very scenic and smooth

The "Tail of the Dragon" is on the TN/NC border. I've been there once.

And there are plenty of roads in our area that are just as enjoyable to drive, if not more.

611 is pretty scenic too once you get a bit north of Doylestown. You can take it all the way up to Lake Wallenpaupack, which also has some nice driving roads.

Basically, the closer you get to the Poconos the better the roads get.

-allentown road from rt113 in souderton to rt663 in quakertown, INSANE hills and turns, kids i went to high school with died on that road.
-also worth mentioning, US 22 and US 30 from one end of the state to the other, all kinds of moutains and stuff.

wagontown road right off 340 going toward chambers lake, fun little stretch

route 82 north of 322
route 52 I think it is, in and around chadds ford/deleware

any of the backroads off route 82 out in east fallowfield toward unionville, plenty of dirt roads and one lane twisties to get lost on.

highland road out near parksburg right off 10, wide open view and a few nice curves after a loonnng straight

Amish country out in lancaster has some nice roads too if you go toward gap and branch off

up around philly, the best ones I found are Kelly, Lincoln, West River, & route 23 between bala cynwyd and conshy

Also there are some freaking sick ass roads up in Sullivan County, although I've never been able to drive on them before. Basically mountain runs, everytime I'm up there I'm in our truck though so no fun.

Hopkins Rd / Pleasant Hill Rd - Nice backroad from PikeCreek to Newark with a few wicked turns (dont go to fast on the straightaway!! people fish on that bridge. i always govern my speed then commence the destruction of road once back in the turns.

UpperPikeCreek Rd - very nice turns with nice scenery next to a golf course (the golfers must hate when i fly by with the beast roaring)

Centerville Rd - Awesome elevation change enhancing some blind turns makes for a very scary ride for passengers

All three of these roads i enjoy foward&reverse and know them well enough to thoroughly impress passengers even though i always back off and drive at 80-90% with others. My 80-90% is the equivalent of 150% for them :-) When i ride alone its a different story in my everlong quest to ride the limit. Back when i had my miata i could get the tail out Consitently on a couple turns, but i havnt pushed the limits of the viper yet...

I was there for all of these, they were 2 days apart. The trike went wide and hit a boat trailer. The guy that hit the tree was from Michigan and ripped past me at like 90 about a mile before he lost it. He went 150 feel off a cliff and hit a tree so hard his eyes popped out of his skull.

One of the good ones I've found around here is Rt 590 near Hamlin. There are a bunch of good roads up there if you are willing to ride for awhile. I forget the route up to Hawk's Nest, but thats a pretty good ride too.

I did the Dragon last year during the BABE Rally. Saw one guy lose control of his Harley and slide. Had a neckbrace and on the backboard and everything. Took an hour to get an ambulance to the scene to get him transported. Tennessee Troopers sit in parts of it once you cross over the border into Tenn. As a person or two has said, there are alot of decent roads around the Dragon that are less traveled and just as curvy/twisty..

River Rd/ Rt. 32/ rt. 611 all along the Delaware River has always been one of my favorite M/C rides.. nice, gentle curves ( and lots of them), plus awesome scenery...lots of other roads in the Bucks County area as well..
My personal recommendation, is a stretch of Rt 662 in Berks County, Between Rts 222 and 61.. about 13 miles, prolly some 75 curves/ corners... not exactly TotD stuff, but an awesome road right in my backyard :supz:

611 right below easton was great this year after they repaved it was on it after a short storm haha made sliding around on my supermoto a blast. Try 863 north off 78 to 737 back south its a blast on a bike some of it might be a little tight for a car to have fun with out crossing the yellows tho. Also 191 and 390 in the poconos are pretty sweet too.

I like driving on smithbridge road, east of 202 and all the connecting roads such as montchanin rd, beaver valley rd, and thompsons bridge rd. I have my own little course setup back there that I drive on every once in a while. there isn't much traffic at late night and in the early morning. there are lots of elevation and surface changes which make it very difficult to drive fast on, but it's challenging.
