To make a long story short i was in jersey today (i live in pa) and got a speeding ticket for 22 over. (62 in a 40). Now my first question is, do points carrry over from jersey to PA? and my second question is i want to fight this and get it brought down from 22 over to 19 over which would cut my fine in half, do i have to travel 1.5 hours to where i was to go to court, or is there some other way?

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad::supz:

Well im not sure if the points transfer, im assuming they do....and yes you would have to travel for the court date into the district where the citation was given, i dont know any way around this....

ASK THE LAW...but uhh ya you have to travel, points will get carried over and im sure you can plea bargain with them, i just got a 98 in a 65 a week ago and thats 33 over, im screwed so dont feel so bad about a 22 over

damn sick burn!! oh ****!! damn.....

but seriously i was not sure where i was, in an area ive never been to before, meeting someone and getting lost turning around a bunch of times getting frustrated haha also, from where i got pulled over i could see a "45mph" sign so i was not aware i was in a "40" at all.

whatever im not here to plead my case, i was speeding thats all there is to it i jstu think its a dick move to say i was doing 62 when he could have jstu put 59 and left us all happy. i guess im going to go there and fight it.....

ya like i was real polite, had all my stuff prepared in my glove box for the event i did get pulled over. i gave him no trouble at all. he may not have liked the grand in cash that was in the glove box though (picking up wheels)...that was kind of awkward explaining... "im meeting a guy at that shut down barnes and nobles up the road"

So you're mad he did his job? And you expected him to make an exception for some reason?

The answers you are looking for are that yes you can probably plead to a lesser charge, and it may even be something less than 19 over. You will need to go to court to make this happen though, unless you pay a lawyer to represent you which doesn't make much sense.

All the info that you needed is on this forum.

Although reported to PennDOT, minor traffic offenses such as speeding, red light, stop sign, etc., will (NOT) appear on your driving record, unless you are a CDL holder. Points will not be assessed to your PA driving record when convicted of a point related offense in a DLC member state.

Pay the fine and move on. You should never speed in jersey especially on local roads. I've learnt my lesson.

No offense, but ever hear of drivers license compact?

Speeding tickets and other minor convictions don't transfer.

To the OP: Pay the fine and next time invest in a decent radar detector (NOT COBRA) and/or laser jammer before speeding.

Edit: beaten.

Iv herd that points dont carry and iv herd they do my dad said back in the day they dont, but you might want to fight it and see only advice i can give you is dont go there thinking that just becuse you drove a long way there going to give your a brake. they way they see it you could be 5 min away from home or 24 hours speeding is speeding. other thing you have to keep in mind it its not your township nore state for that matter you dont vote for the judge in that area so he/her could either be real cool or be a total p#^*& to you because at the end of the day your taxes or votes dont help him/her out. thats the only reason when your pulled over in or around where you live district court judges give you a brake for even if your totaly screwed.
