99% of companies aren't going to give you insurance for 1 month. On top of the fact it's quite expensive for any company to initialize a policy (believe it or not it takes about 2-3 years for any company to start making a profit on you).

With that being said, you can cancel your insurance at any time and get a prorated refund. When you call companies for quotes, just ask if they have a cancelation fee and what their cancelation policy is.

There is a vendor here that sells car insurance.

You could always purchase a plan under comprehensive for 6 months then cancel after the first month and receive the unused portion of the insurance back.

That's what I've already told him.

However, it doesn't have to include comprehensive coverage if you don't want it. Liability only works the same way.

Def cheaper for a car to be delievered. Unless you want to drive the car. But if money is not an option go for it and just cancel the policy like twas stated.

Is this a new car? If it has the potential of breaking down I wouldn't drive it back.

With Allstate you get 30 days free coverage when you buy a new car.. and then it gets calculated into your coverage.

He'll still have to make a downpayment.

Nah, I just got an 05 WRX and I had 30 days. No payment or anything. I ended up changing insurance companies because they wanted to screw me in the ass and not even give me a reach around.

yup... as far as i know just about every insurance company out there has the same policy. although it's probably better if you do, you don't even have to report to your company that you have a new car for 30 days and it will still be covered. i asked allstate after i bought my integra and that's exactly what i was told.

just add the car to your current policy, drive it back, and then call them up and have it dropped. Im pretty sure they will calculate it to the day, so you wont even have to pay a full month. thats how allstate does it for me atleast/

edit: oh and when you have it dropped, just call them and tell them you changed your mind and sold the car. (some agencies get butt hurt when you drop insurance and still have the car)
Thats what i do every year with my bike, lol
Its the same girl i talk to every year. I keep on telling her im buying and selling the same bike  she must get confused

Just have it delivered, cheaper and easier that way than you flying out there and driving it back.

I agree with this. Safe Auto doesn't give a crap when I add or drop my truck and its instant....

Do we even know if he currently has insurance? I was under the impression that he does not.

I was hoping since he owned a 2008 Civic that he, infact, did. Hoping is the key word there, lol.

Well wtf! If he does, add it to your current policy (you won't have to make a payment right then), then just take it off the policy when you get to your house. The'll just prorate the price of the coverage for that one or two days you had the car covered.

well here's the problem. im under my parents insurance so i give them money every month and theres 4 cars under the policy so adding another car is not possible according to state farm. it will have to be a separate policy they said, now im thinking if i do my own policy its gonna be a lot more money cause of my age, 19.
