so I'm going to be buying a civic dx and i really don't know much about them.
I'm more of a nissan guy but it's a deal and i really needed something.
The engine will need to be swapped somewhat soon and I was looking for some opinions on engine swaps by people who know more on hondas than i do

not sure about getting a turbo, unless it really reliable
and not trying to spent a whole lot

so, if you want, take the time to give me ideas and why your idea's a good one

Yeah holdin it down for h-field haha yeah what you wanna know is that a b-series is most common an easy. It really all depends on what you plain on doing it your doing track racin id go b, but if your just going to drive it an want extra powa stay single and get a vtec engine. Also you will have to do some wiring first converting to mutliport and I woukd go obd1 why you were at it.

Put an LS in it and boost it. Just run like 8 pounds, itll feel great and youll have a blast with it.

How much money do you have to spend..?

i'll probably be willing to do up to about 800

i do know these motors are pretty cheap tho
and it just needs to be a good daily to get me back and forth to the train and things like that. and i kinda do want a turbo but i know they arent always too reliable

i might have to do this sooner than not because it has 205000 on the body, and the guy i'm buying from said the guy he bought it from said there was a newer engine in there, but he wasnt sure how many miles.

Ok well goodluck swapping an engine and turboing it for 800 dollars it will never happen.

To even swap a motor you need to convert to mpfi, and really the only option I think you have is d16z6 as you can use the transmission in your car.

All you will need is the mpfi swap parts, d16z6 complete engine, p28 ecu, and obd1 conversion harness.

edit: I think I know someone selling the mpfi and obd1 parts you need on a local forum.

For that your best bet is either a D16A6 direct swap with conversion to MPFI or use your existing trans and convert to OBD1 with a SOHC Vtec and use your existing trans. You MIGHT be able to get a B18A1 setup in there if you find one cheap enough. But don't forget the $500ish for Hasport mounts/linkage and axles if you do that.

I agree with just about everyone else when they say do the the mpfi conversion and swap in D16Z6. Parts are cheap and best bang for your buck...

i was thinking getting that i should do a b16 from a couple people
i like the idea, it just might cost more
as long as I have the money, i willing to do it.
i was supposed to get the car on tuesday but that never worked out
the engine didnt look too clean, but then again, that doesnt mean much

i was really hoping to do a sohc too
i dunno, we'll see

G23vtec

f23 sohc block + k20 pistons + h22 head= extremely fun g23 vtec

more torque than an h22 and more horsepower too

How..? It took "7 grand" to make 250whp.

You can do a K swap with bolt ons and kpro for 7 grand and make around 230whp

all depends how much u are looking to spend.. also what ur skill level is. i personally would build a b20 vtech from scratch. i had a fully built gsr till my car was stolen and strippid in NE philly. parts for sale!!!! http://www.hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=2540762

I would say to try and source a b18a swap. Not a lot of horse but you can find them cheap and all that torque in a light car will be fun. Down the road you can swap out the tranny from an ls to a b16. Then when you save up some more money you can buy a vtec head. Do things little by little and in the end you'll have a nice ls/vtec setup that's geared right in a light chassis.

i had a d16z6 with the si trans head milled a little i could keep up with alot of cars and eat up b16's i had a tune also

kseries!!!!

natethegreatt
05-12-2009, 11:24 PM
the money i'd spend on a k series would be enough to get a lesser engine and make it better than a k series
i think a b16a (b16b or b18c ideally) are my best choices

I can offer you a one time deal of a OBD-0 B16a, trans, ecu, vtec/knock/o2 wiring, distributor, axles with Hasport mounts and linkage for $2000 installed.

2000 is cheap k is awesome swap but can be realy pricey. i would do a simple b or a d with some work

k series all day only swap worth doingI would have to disagree with that. K series are great but veryy expensive. gsr swap is the most convenient way to go

good deal!

k swap will run 5k+ in parts alone...

^^^i dont know much but all that for 2k is pretty good depends on what condition the motor and trans in

natethegreatt
05-26-2009, 09:14 PM
yeaa its a good deal, but i'd rather do it myself with help from some friends and get the experience than pay someone to **** that i could and should do on my own

gsr swap would be awesome but it's kind of unrealistic with my budget unless i can find one cheap
