Well, I went to Michigan for Xmas and all went well. Good time with family, ect. So sunday we start heading back home, and we end up getting a call from my sister around 6:30, who stayed home for various reasons. She starts talking to my dad mentioning that my car door was open. I wasn't sure what she was talking about yet because I was driving and we where only to the pittsburg area at the time :(. I was told to pull into a shopping center because we needed to get something anyways, when I was told that my airbags in my car where out. At the time, this was all I knew so naturally I was : WTF. :mad:

Later, We got home around 12:30 and I get to see my car. I noticed my airbags where out like what was said (driver and passenger only, as I have many other airbags lol), so I start searching for anything else that was maybe missed.. First thing that I noticed was that my front valance was broken (not too big a deal really) so I instantly knew someone took my car, and became pissed exponentially. I walked around to my passenger side to find that my wheel was flat and a huge chunk was missing from the rim. :mad::mad::mad::mad: So I found all the damage.. It looked like someone took it and smacked into a big curb or something similar.

Odd thing was that It was brought back.

After my sister got home and we all had a huge fight about this (because she was supposed to be home, blah blah blah), we called the cops. I later decided I wanted to find out who did this and we where leaning toward one of my sisters friends doing it. She said she didn't know who yet the cops, myself, and multiple other people said she was lying/hiding something just from her actions/manarisms. So the cops took my car for investigation, so I'm stuck without a car for the time being until I get a rental.

What was even better was my bithday was only the day before :mad:

We asked her multiple times If she did or knew who did with and with out cops there, always saying I don't know. Im pretty positive she didn't because she has absolutely no Idea how to drive it.

I told her all that stuff and I also told her if she lies on the statement to the cops she could get jail time, still... nothing. I hope she at least told them who was at the house so they have a good place to start and she can keep herself(maybe) out of it.

car isnt really mangled but some good damage was done. I know her BF rides dirt bikes professionally (sorta) so he at least has the idea how to drive it but she says he was with her. not many of them have cars, mainly the girls I think. Dude, I agree. But regardless of how, something needs to be done. I mean, the cops aren't going to put that much man power into solving this, but you should/can. There is definately more than one person that knows. Your sister may or may not (although I'm sure it would be hard for her not to know), but her friends DO. He based this off of that there was nothing missing from the car. So they are releasing my car today so I can have it fixed. I gonna probably have a talk with the detective to see if there is anything further I can do. I only know whats visibly wrong with the car, and I want some sort of justice served.. Now Im kinda pissed again, I was sorta numb to it earlier. If need be I could always file a civil case yet that is gonna be a pain in the ass w/ no real hard evidence, unless I get someone to fess up. Im still gonna find out who did this, Im not telling my sister that its dropped(i guess) since maybe someone will get scared and fess up. And now to get it fixed. Dude, your best bet is to tell your sister to tell her friends the police found fingerprints and know who did it and is giving them 48hrs to come forward before more serious charges are brought against them..

12. i have seen them at reeds @ like 730am one day..

didn't try to. But the damage isn't horrific. the bumper is fine only the passenger side fender is a bit out of place (im guessing the shocks bottomed out) and the wheel messed up. the valance on the bottom is no big deal, just a thin peice of plastic. and the airbags.. besides all that I can only assume for the moment that It turns on and I don't see why it wouldn't at the moment.

Wonder how the clips are on the bottom of your bumper that hold that valance on. The door will most likely be fixed (almost positive it will be). Fender will be replaced. Depending on the shop they might blend into the hood and front bumper. Silver is a crap color to match sometimes... usually it has multiple variances.

You are probably looking at $3-3.5k in damage after parts/labor.

I didn't think of all the related parts that goes with airbags and am not sure on what airbags cost so I just guessed $300 each.

Yea, I work at a shop but don't do estimates, only read them once in a while and just go through quick making sure I didn't skip anything. I don't pay much attention to the hours on everything because I'm hourly and know at the end of the day I turn good numbers otherwise I could probably give a closer quote or if I had actual prices infront of me.

If your subframe somehow got bent, thats going to be a lot more expensive. IDK if its enough of a hit do yank it tho, subframes seem to get bent more from people sliding into curbs from the stuff I've seen at work where the suspension arms will kink and shift the subframe some.

Paint matching, if you get it added on an estimate, is usually around 1 hour, 2 hours TOPS depending on the color and if the adjuster knows its a PITA color from previous work. Even then, its sometimes to get a "great" match in that time and you may go over that, essentially loosing the shop money because you are busy trying to get the paint to match. Even the color guns aren't always accurate, a majority of the time they get real close and its good for a blend, sometimes its great and you could panel paint the color and never tell, yet others its horrible and says there are pearls and stuff in some solid colors (happens on older paint sometimes).

You don't get crap for time for blending adjacent panels. Usually 1-1.8 hrs between prep and painting.

I DID forget to add in paint materials but that will only change it a few hundred. I'd be suprised if its over $4.5k all said and done.

It depends how far back they sit, at what speed they hit, etc etc. Too many variables. My airbag deployed once and it didn't even touch me. The passenger one however cracked the windshield.

Find hammer. Something that isnt too big. Needs to be able to hit small joints.
Duct tape (or, to keep in traditional VW trends, blue painters tape. Just need more)
Some roofing nails, in case thing get a little crazy

Phase 2.
Host party for sisters friends/sister. Make it an "I am sorry" themed party.
Invite her drug abusing friends, and/or other suspects
Invite several members of TST

Phase 3.
Slow start pulling away people from the party.
Tape suspect to chair in front of table. Tape hands down to table
Start hitting knuckles of said person, until either they confess, or all knuckles are broken
- If confession, continue hitting them repeadly in random joints. Nailing into them is acceptable here
- If knuckles are broken, move to next set of bones (wrists, or toes. Either or)
