If it is like the rest of current Fords, the intake shroud and the inlet itself are placed just at/above the hoodline to take air in from the small opening in the hood where the weather stripping is removed.

Most of the time the water is below or at the headlights, so it probably didn't take any water in, or at least not enough to seize the engine.
