i always thought that was assumed wheel horse power or adjusted wheel horse power. but it could be all wheel.

makes sense, but isn't that kind of redundant? of course a fwd car would make 0hp at the back wheels? why wouldn't they just saw whp in general, or bhp which is brake hp right?
teh DIRT
11-08-2005, 02:10 PM
no bhp is butt horse power....like the butt dyno.

seriously? i've seen it used in tehnical posts though... are you sure?
don't mean to turn a for sale thread into a hp tech thread but it is interesting...

it is brake horsepower which is a slightly different measurement than we use here in the US.

Let her know you need to start building credit and this is a good way to do it since you really need a good reliable car, lol.
You lose a larger percentage of power through AWD systems than FWD/RWD systems. So saying awhp signifies that the motor is actually much stronger than a similar car without AWD.
Not too long ago it seemed AWD dynos were a lot more rare. I actually had to convert my car to FWD just to dyno it. On a DSM that is actually pretty easy and there are several ways to do it. Mitsu made trannies and transfer cases that had switches to convert them from AWD to FWD and back. But those pieces were rare and pricey back then. Instead, I had a viscous coupler machined and welded so it would lock the front to back power transfer. Then I had a shaft that I cut short so it wouldnt' engage the transfer case. That effectively made my car FWD.

300whp it says. What it makes on 110oct doesn't matter.
Hell, I'd have 450+whp on C16, but try finding that from a pump.
93oct, pump gas is the power that matters.
