You'd think that $200K per game would be an incentive to STFU.
This 4 game suspension is gonna cost him about $800K, just because he can't stop running his mouth.

if anyone thinks we got to the superbowl without TO last year they need to turn off WIP... he contributed to a 13-1 record and helped lock up home field advantage for the playoffs.
by locking up homefield we were able to rest our starters for the last 2 games. granted he didn't play in playoffs, but the vikings and the falcons (along with the rest of the NFC) were not on the same level with the birds last year.
even with all that said, he is still the most selfish, self centered, childish athlete to ever compete professionally... i dont care if we lose every game for the rest of the year, he got keyshawned and deserved every second of it.

He did have a way out of this disaster he created. He had Philly in the palm of his hand at the end of last year. Then he and his new agent made that whole fiasco about a new contract. If he wanted to save face, he could've just fired his new agent(Rosenhouse) after seeing he wasn't getting the results he thought he was going to get and gave a public speech on TV that he was misled by his new agent, so he fired him. You know it would've been BS, but it could've made people forget about him being the problem and thinking that maybe his agent was behind his actions.
Then, he could've played out his contract this year, looked really good to the people of Philly (who hate his agent), and probably would've had a great year that would have added more value to himself. He could've been a hero on all fronts.
Now, forget about everything. I'm actually sick of professional athletes and their moaning and groaning. I'd rather watch amatuers who play for the game or play myself. Just my opinion

He didn't even have to do any of that. Next to Mcnabb, he got the biggest cheers during intro's at the Linc. We loved him, even after his hold-out bull crap.
All he had to due was keep his mouth closed. Unfortunatly, he liked to here himself talk too much.

He didn't miss half the season last year...he missed the last 2 regular season games and 4 1/2 weeks after that. And no offense, but I think there will be several teams fighting to sign him for next year regardless of what happened in Philly. It's been done before with less talented players, and he actually has better numbers this year so far than last year.
Last season before getting injured (14 games):
77 catches
1,200 yds
14 TD's
This season with everything going on (7 games):
47 catches
763 yds
6 TD's
That's 4th best in the league in rec yds and 3rd best in TD's with 1-2 less games than the other WR's and all of the politics that have been hanging over his head. He's easily a top 3 WR in the league based on stats...there's no way other teams are going to ignore that like the Eagles did ignorantly.

The bottom line is, if you're not helping the team, you're hindering the team. Period. TO is an excellent athlete, however, now that it's come down to fighting with teamates in the locker room, he MUST go or it will adversely affect the team without a doubt.
The guy really needs an attitude check. Yes, he is a great player, but exactly how much does an unemployed great player make? His attitude already cost him nearly $1MM this year. How much will that cost him in order to get a new job? I know if I were a prospective team, I'd totally use that against him if I even considered him at all. "Welllllllllllllllllllll, we're really not sure about how you're going to fit in with the team, blah blah blah....so we're only going to be able to offer $XX million for the first couple years to see how it works out."
All because he can't keep his mouth shut and play the damn game.

Well being a Eagles fan. I love TO the WR but don't like TO as a Team Player. He added an element to the team that has been missing for many years. But that being said the team has looked awful this year so that dynamic of team play has been lost. Donovan looks lost on that field. And Andy Reids play calling has been less than stellar. Just look at that last play agains the redskins 4th down couple yards to the first down... and you don't have westbrook in the game? You have spock? PLEASSE. Anyway, I think the team moral will be better without TO, but lets just hope there young recievers can pick it up. God now we have to look forward to more of STINKSTON>>>>>>

theres alot of people in here that are football retarded who just listen to ESPN for 5 minutes and think thats the whole story. Is TO leaving a good thing? Yes. Are the Eagles going to be a better team without him?ABSOLUTELY! They wont be as good as they were last year but they will be better than they have been this year. And im not referring to stats and records. TO had the lockeroom spliting into 3 different groups. If thats not bad for team chemistry I dont know what is. Thats what this game is all about, TEAM CHEMISTRY. You can have the best players in the world, and if they cant play together as team they wont be able to do a damn thing. Look at New England the past 4 years, they werent the most talented team, but they knew how to play together to win, except for this year when they lost 3/4 of their defense. The Eagles are going to be playing alot better now that he is gone. Does that mean they are gonna win the rest of their games this season? I wish, but I doubt it. They will make thing interesting the rest of the season though. :wiggle:

Why do people blame Mcnabb? its not his fault they cant run the ball right now, and he has no choice over the plays that are being called. Even with his injuries this year, Mcnabb still has a higher QB rating than farve who also has thrown almost double the amount of interceptions that Mcnabb has this year. Farves highest QB rating of his career 99.5. Mcnabbs highest QB rating of his career 104.7. Brett Farve is a hall of fame quarterback because of his superbowl wins with a great team and ironman like mentality when it comes to starts. Manning>Mcnabb>Favre as of right now, not when he was winning superbowls.

I love how hypocritical you are in this statement...you are sitting here saying how people should not be blaming McNabb for throwing games and/or interceptions when you are doing the exact thing with Favre. I could easily sit here and tell you how it's not his fault and how his team sucks so it's a waste of his talent as retaliation. McNabb's #'s are so good thanks to Andy Reid calling a passing play almost everytime out in the field.
max2k1
11-08-2005, 03:34 PM
Throwing interceptions is the quarterbacks fault plain and simple. You were trying to say that Farve is better for the Eagles. I simply pointed out the stats. No where did I mention his teams record or say that it was his fault for their losing, I simply did a QB comparison. Go look at the stats, Farve is an interception machine, has been his whole career. He has thrown for 20+ interceptions 4 seperate times in his career, and these arent when the team sucks. Throwing the ball more for Mcnabb will actually hurt his qb rating because it does increase the chances for incomplete passes and interceptions. Having a solid running game is what helps QB's because it makes the defense guess more giving the qb more options

At least TO sounded sincere not that its going to chnage things. Drew is a douche and a no good rotten scoundrel. Two things could have happened today that could have results in TO wearing green again.
1. He fired rosenhous on the spot and gave a heartfelt apology not reading off cards.

This was just reported on the ESPN site
However, Eagles officials who watched the news conference told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio that the team will not take Owens back.
Owens on Monday was told by the team not to return this season. The decision resulted from "a large number of situations that accumulated over a long period of time, during which Terrell had been warned repeatedly about the consequences of his actions," Reid said.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
he is trolling for a new team.
I am so steamed over this. But this made me laugh
We just figured it all out here at work.
1. TO fires Rosenhaus.
2. the Eagles team doctor puts TO on a heavy dose of Prozac.
3. Andy Reid starts eating again and returns to his proper "coaching weight.
4. Eagles win Super Bowl

My favorite part was Rosenhause blaming the media for TO's current problems.

why is team chemistry a joke? go back to max2k1's post on the patriots....that team had chemistry...no real all stars, just a bunch of guys that got along and played TOGETHER...team chemistry has EVERYTHING to do with the performance on the field.....amd hugh douglas is there in the locker room and for team meetings because he gets along with everyone and he is a joker on the team...he helps the CHEMISTRY....getting rid of TO was a good move....hes aint worth all that money for all the crap you have to put up with...in a couple years reggie brown will be pretty nice...i aint worried about it...we just need a number 1 reciever for next year

Guys, come on now. We should be more sympathetic towards T.O. during drastic times like these. I mean, if the multi-million dollar contract he signed with the eagles wasn't enough to feed himself and his family, think about how they're gonna make it now!
We should definitely start a T.O. Can Can donation for the whole T.O. family. What a shame.
Oh, and Rosenhause is a complete moron. He holds a press conference yet dismisses any decent question posed by the media. That's what the conference is for, to answer questions. He just made a complete a55 of himself. At this point I don't know who's worse - T.O. or Rosenhause.

Which is funny because this is what the Eagle's don't have.
Ok, first you think that westbrook is not one of the best all purpose backs in the league when he just signed a contract worth $9m up front, and $25m down the road. Then, you have yourself giving big ben a reach-around for your avatar when his running game and defense won the game last week.
Good luck with the colts.
I won't even go into the McNabb statment - I'm still waiting for MNF this week. IMO Eagles have 2 important games to prove themselves, if not... next season.

Damn this thread has blown up since yesterday. Mike Favre has only won 1 Super Bowl not Super Bowls:wink:
who said anyone forgot what TO did for the team? Every interview i hear says "even though he was a great contribution on the field" dude your almost as oblivious to things as owens is......you like make up these things in your head, and then type them over the computer...the vikings are having a lot more problems with their team than losing randy moss.......or maybe you havent been reading up in the newspaper on your stats and gossip? t.o. os worse than randy moss after this in my opinion, and WE ARE A BETTER TEAM WITHOUT HIM end of story....if you want to argue that then you are pretty much a dolt and suck at life...thank youEvery Eagles fan that I have talked to since this has happened has said the samething about TO. See ya later! Then I ask them well what about what he has brought to the team? Their response is typically, "Who cares. Just get him outta here" And I think the Eagles are just as bad as the Vikings right now. Both teams have now gotten rid of their best WR, both teams have injured QB's but atleast Culpepper is out and not playing injured like McNabb is doing and which is causing the Eagles to lose games. McNabb is an idiot and the Eagles organization are a bunc of idiots for not making McNabb sit out and get the surgery done. Now he has bruised ribs on top of his injury and yet they still have them in there. Its time to read the writiing on the wall. Your half way through the season and you have the Cowboys and Giants coming up. The two best teams in the NFC East back to back for the Eagles. If they lose these two games they should bench McNabb for the season and tell him to get the surgery done and have him ready to go for next season. And seneca said it best. You sound like every other delusional Eagle fan(atic) to me. The person who has helped generate the most offense since joining the Eagles is now gone and you claim your going to be a better team?

Yes they will. It's retarded to think they won't. Football is a team sport. When you have people who are acting out in public speaking against the team, it brings down morale and makes the Eagles a worse team. Once this situation is solidly behind them, they will be able to get back to the business of teamwork, without having to sweat what some moron who can't keep his mouth shut says in front of the ESPN cameras.
Am I saying that they're going to the super bowl this year? No. But they will be better off as a team without a trouble maker in their ranks.

Wow I saw that interview yesterday in front of TO's house and Rosenhaus was being like a momma to TO answering all of those questions. I think the Eagles will be better off without TO right now so they can at least get turned around in the right direction. He was more of a distraction than help. My favorite part of the interview though is when a reporter asked Rosenhaus "have you done anything else besides get TO kicked off the team?" When my family and I heard that we laughed histerically because we saw TO in the background smurking, thinking that was a funny question. It was hilarious.

Alright now you both have to get me started early this morning. Thanks!
I don't HATE McNabb, I just don't think he lives up to his hype at all. You can't sit there and compare two quarterbacks when one has more experience then the other. Look at it this way, how old is Ben? 22-23? How old is McNabb? How many years more has McNabb (7 years) been playing pro compared to Big Ben (2 years)? How much MORE has Ben proven already this year and last year compared to McNabb considering his age and experience? Philly and Pitt both lost to the same team while on their quest for the Superbowl rings. McNabb is okay, but he is not as great as you people make him out to be this year.

First you have to realize that this pic/avatar was made as a JOKE. A BIG JOKE from another thread. I never said Westbrook was bad or he sucks, I said that the Eagle's (as a whole) running game sucks. ONE person doesn't make the team a running team especially when the coach is calling passing plays 99.9999999% of the time. I don't like TO (we agree on) personally or McNabb professionally. You can sit here and tell me how great his stats are, how good he looks on paper, or how awesome he SOUNDS, but with what I see and all the other millions of people see every Sunday/Monday it contradicts ALL of you. I know this is not solely McNabb's fault, it's a "team" effort. Well if it's a "team" effort and they are 4-4 coming up against the Cowboys and the Giants there record can only get worse.
Even if Pittsburgh kills the Ravens and lose to the Colts you know what? Their record will still be better then the Eagles and now (thanks to TST) I have a new reason to care about the Steelers this season compared to the last ones.

Listen I am not going to get into a pissing contest about McNabb as a Quaterback. His record stands alone. He has performed and is a star in the NFL. He has had is issues. Like any other QB in the leage. He has his great moments and his not so great moments. He has matured as a QB to a fault I think but none the less has matured. He has worked the west coast offense(which I am not a huge fan of) and adapted well to it.
This year has been tough to watch him play. He looks confused on the field, not making smart plays. Trying to force the play instead of letting it develop. The whole team looks lost. I am hoping that this shake up may bring them back to play as a team and not as they have been playing.
I am not going to write the season off but there schedule is really tough coming up so I am going to wait and see.

Then they called the pits. steelers and tried to make a trade offer , they wanted to trade TO for equiptment and other ****, it was so damn funny. They actually called the admin. office and talked to some guy live on the radio, haaha . They said they were representing the eagles.

Willie Parker has 2 years experience while Westbrook has double that. Parker's average yards so far this year is 4.7, and Westbrook comes in with a whomping 3.5!
Oh wow! Let's look at Duce Staley (former Eagle's RB). Quite funny how his stats are better coming onto the Steelers compared to his past years with the Eagles. His first year on the Steelers within 10 games he already racked up 830 yards. Too bad he's accident prone. My final assesment: Coach Reid needs to put down the hash pipe and run the ball.

This is a team in trouble right now. The need to regroup, and pull themselves together. They need a team player to step up and the coach to put the hammer down. Its funny how some people are comparing McNabb to Big Ben. Big Ben from where he started and where he is now he is leaps and bounds ahead of where McNabb was at the sametime. Think about it....Big Ben has lost how many games as a starter? Whats his passer rating right now? The only reason why McNabb's stats are as good as they are is because 80% of his passes are screens or short dump passes to Westbrook. When McNabb has to air out the ball I would venture to say that his passes are pathetic because he over throws them. So to sum it up, McNabb is overrated big time when it comes to the passing game since Westbrook and TO catch it and do the rest and make McNabb's numbers look good.

TO ALL:
does nobody realize what the west coast offense is? the fact that the eagles have successfully made it to the NFC championship game within this same system has eluded almost everyone as well. do you know why the eagles unbalanced strategy is so apparent now? because teams like the panthers, bucs, cowboys, and falcons have built defenses in order to defeat the system - that's what you do when you want to beat the best.
you have to admit that the eagles are finally committing to a running game, but don't even begin to compare one of the best run blocking o-lines in the league with one of the best pass rushing o-lines.

Wow...i follow football thoroughly, and i have to disagree with the both of you. As much as i dont want to start any more arguments...i just dont agree...and then again maybe i didnt read the whole thread... But there is no chance that Ben is a better QB than McNabb. Yes i'm an eagles fan, but besides that, fantasy football changes you and you see football from every angle. Lets compare here...including your discussion on running the ball...even with w. parker. Eagles offensive line...stinks...Steelers: excelent. They create great gaps for their running backs. Their offense is based on the run. So when you're running effectivly and you only need to throw the ball maybe 20 times a game...you're QB rating is going to be outstanding. They also present their QB with ample time off of play action and other pass plays. So when Ben's stats are good, they are highly thankful to their O line...as well as to Ward, Randel EL, and last year...Buress.
Westbrook is a decent RB, but he presents an even bigger chalange to Defenses because of his ability to catch the ball in the open field and the difficutly to cover him. But you have to admit that if Reed ran the ball more, gave Westbrook more touch oppertunities...that he would be one of the best backs in the league. Look at his stats from last year...they were amazing.
And as far as McNabb...overrated?? Eat your words my friend. No one says he's the best QB in the league. Cuz he isnt. But one of the best?? You better believe it. 9(?) interseptions last year?? 30+ TD's. He's a fighter and he's playing hurt this year. That is where his weekness lies. He should have gotten his surgery earlier in the year, now its too late and we have to deal with a QB who isnt very mobile. If you're a Defensive coordinater...you base your plays off that fact. Denver showed that perfectly.
Anyway. Eagles have a tough 2nd half to the season...but if they pull together, they may still be able to make the playoffs. But injuries are killing them right now.

I see superbowl 40: Carolina vs Indiapolis
how can you say you're an eagles fan and not see the protection that mcnabb has each and every down. on the blitz, he used to step up and take the hit in order to make a play, but he doesnt anymore. McNabb inconsistency shouldn't make you see the o-line as weak. Is it their fault he takes 5+ secs to get rid of the ball? Even Big Ben doesn't do that, and neither did McNabb the last 4 seasons. If he doesn't step up with the next 2 games, the season is over...

1. What i said doesnt mean every down obviously...but it does include this years O-line. and alot of the pass plays that involve only a three step drop pass even. Last years was great. This year they cant stop 95% of the blitz because of the amount of pass rushers usually. Last year they were able to handle it. But the O-line is a little different this year. S. Andrews (rookie) is a good player, but he's still learning and maturing, we no longer have Mayberry, and what stinks now is Fraly is out for the season...so thats a real downer...most consistant blocker.
and
2. I also highly meant that our O-line stinks when it comes to making running paths. The job obviously doesnt fall on the HB or FB's completely. If you dont have a hole to run through for the majority of the run plays...than you arnt going to be successful. Then again, Reed is predictable...so maybe thats why we cant run the ball. Because everyone and they're brothers know that on 2nd and long...its a run play...usually.

i figured that what you meant, but just to say they stink didn't really make sense to me. mcnabb wouldnt be able to complete the number of passes he does without an o-line as good as ours.
as for the run, you're dead on right now - they need to stay committed. even tho this last game was a loss, i still feel they proved they are ready to rely more on westbrook. i wouldn't mind seein more of those 20+ yard screens either.
funny what happens when you give someone $9m and a long term deal - that's the first screen that worked so far this year... hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

Well when you pass 50+ times a game, you're bound to have some completions

the O line needs more practice on opening holes....they need to do abetter job on picking up blitz...and the tight ends and full backs and even running backs need to do a better job of blocking those blistz's...obviously when the broncos were bringing everybody and their mother to t-off on mcnabb there is no stopping everybody, but thats why we need to run the friggin ball....i agree with cappa...this week we will be more consistant with the run, and hopefully see those screen passes more to westbrook...thats what he was so good at last year....i want to see more of mcmullen too...dude never gets to play now he can finally prove himself...hes supposed to be nice,,i already know reggie brown will be ok
