If its a Type R tranny, then the smart choice would be for the Type R short shifter.

Actually Frank is saying aftermarket short shifter.
I'm saying stock type R shifter.
But either way, we both say Type R parts.

No. You are incorrect. Stop posting incorrect info.
The tranny type doesn't matter. If you were running an H22 or K20, it would be a different story.

Yes. I hope you aren't buying some super expensive one. Go on Ebay and buy one of the $15 ones. They work exactly the same.
I personally hated the short shifter on my hatch. I had it one for about a week and took it off. The shifts get really notchy, it didn't like going into first gear as much.

Kevs right...
you would run the shifter for that make and model. EG and DC2..
Same chassis basically. Get a GSR shifter.. Works perfect, short shifters kinda suck.

The only difference is the bend in the shifter and since it is in a civic i believe he will need a civic shifter even tho its a typer trans. LSHatch is correct.

a short shifter is like a $20 item and can be returned not a big deal but he should use the civic shifter or its not going to work right

get a shifter for the body style........also i recomend NOT getting one of those cheap ones, they always break. i swear by HURST short shifters, they are also taller than the others, yet keep a nice short throw. they are super strong and arent so short as to make shifting hard.

I recommend a B and M short throw shifter. Mine was $39 bucks at some sight whose name is escaping me.
