In light of my SRT-8 being totaled I am now in the market for a new ride. I'd like to keep it under $25k. Prefer something manual and RWD. Maybe mid-engine and/or turbo again. Not necessarily in a hurry, I may just buy a beater for the winter to save a down payment and buy in the spring.

Some of the stuff I've been searching for:
'94 or earlier Lotus Esprit Turbo
Lotus Elise
Chevy Corvette

I've also been contemplating getting a pickup. Like a Chevy 1500 or a Silverado or something.

Just looking for some suggestions and/or deals.

i never understood the idea of having a truck unless you REALLY need it for work or something.. thats just my 2 cents though.

good luck with the find, I'd say elise.

I'd say look into a 911. 993 or early 996 carrera. My dad has a 996 and it's a blast. U could also get an M3, boxter S, or an M5. the vette is good too. I love the lotus esprit and elise. But idk how the insurance would be fore any of these after u accident. Were u at fault?

^ That Porsche just has turbo wheels... engines not turbo..

Not sure if CHAOS knows your financial situation or not (im guessing he does because of his statement) but if he is wrong and doesnt even know you I'd go for one of the following -

NSX (earlier models)

Or go with a Lotus

What about a SRT-10?

he would need probably another 15k to get a decent SRT-10, 25-30k could maybe buy him a early-mid 90s viper.

i say z06 they aren't too $$ to insure, vipers can be a good deal but if you have a few tickets or accidents that are your fault it jumps drastically.

do you only want exotic? if not why not an evo 9 mr you can put them in the 11s no problem.

That's what I would look into.
1)Get an older car like a 240 drop a Rb25 in it
2)NSX
3)STI
4)EVO
5)g35
6)Used is350 or used sc430
7)350z
8)BMW M5

E39 m5.

M5 is nice if you have a DD because repairs wont be cheap. 911 wouldnt be cheap either, and dont they need new timing belts every 30k or something?

Since I haven't been around can you explain what the hell happened to your super nice SRT8? I think you should find another SRT8.

If you do things on time they are very reliable cars.

m3's are sick too! plus a lot of aftermarket available...

11-17-2008, 02:13 PM
the elise would be sick... if you're like, under 5'8'' lol

if i was in the market for rwd, i'd go 350z
and of course i'm partial to evos/sti's, there's your turbo.

edit:

actually, there's your turbo + rwd, and you'll be right under your 25k mark. i was lookin at an 02 laguna seca blue m3 for 600 less than what i paid for my evo. you can find a lot of nice 02/03 m3's around 22-24k. phoenix yellow is sick too. AM parts are gonna cost a fortune though.

I know someone selling an '88 Lotus Esprit, I think for 17.5k. I am sure if you were interested might go for less.

Save your money...be the first one with a 09 Hyundai Genesis Coupe!

It's rumored the turbo 4 will start at 19.9k and the na v6 at 25.6k.

6spd, 300 bhp v6, & brembos FTMFW

Plus you can tell us how it is!

Rebuilding an M engine is pricey.

The SRT8 was totaled when someone merged in front of me on the highway without signaling. You can figure out the rest.

If I can't find a way to get the car I've been driving this week, a '00 M5, then I'll probably just be getting a beater for the winter.

...and lol@me driving a Hyundai. No thanks.
