Chip it, they are making some good hp/ tq numbers with just chiptuning.
Stage I ECU Upgrade
Not only does our Stage I software give you higher peak numbers of 252 horsepower and 303lb-ft. of torque, but also gains of up to 61 horsepower are available at lower rpms! This software is the ultimate upgrade for the new A3 and gives it just the extra edge these cars lack from the factory, without pushing the limits. With factory like smoothness and drivability, the new power will fill the void in an otherwise excellent car.
APR chips are available in an octane specific version for the octane of gasoline that you typically run in your car. The power that the chip makes also depends on which ECU is in your vehicle. The A3 2.0T ECU can be upgraded via DirectPort Programming. For more information on DirectPort Programming, please see the DirectPort page. For more information on the ECU upgrade, please see the charts below.

Yeah well those tend to be alittle inflated but well who knows. I would also look into a exhaust not the best gains but if you plan on chipping it, it would be good to have a exhaust. And you gotta tint that thing.

I wish that they had the 2dr a3 in the US i would grab one in a minute, I'm waiting for the 2.0T GTI to come out and see what that's like for my next car.

actually APR's numbers (for my car anyhow) were pretty much dead on, give or take a couple hp and tq, and i don't know what exhaust options you have yet but i'm sure a bigger dp/ exhaust combo would help out

I have heard vbery mixed reviews on apr's numbers their products are spot on but the gains are debatable.

i admit i hate apr's software on my car but their numbers were accurate of course now i have tons of other stuff... but the gain from chipping is def there... if i were to do it again i would go to AWE tuning and have them GIAC X+ flash it

Forget 2dr a3's i wish they would just bring out a new 2dr rs3 and i would probably never own another car.

Forget APR and give Todd or Mike a ring at AWE tuning. They use GIAC tuning which in my opinion is the best. To this day I still hold the record for stock turbo S4 12.4 @113mph. Go to AWE-Tuning (http://www.AWE-Tuning.com) Also these guys are right off the PA turnpike in Willow Grove.
