hidden files

i have a SanDisk extreme III 4gb and i shot 1,000+ shots on it, uploaded the files to my computer, it said i deleted the files, but when i load the card into my camera it says i only have 230 some exposures(usually says 2.2k when card is empty) and i thought maybe i had switched the images quality and size but the settings were still the same. So when i just checked it in my computer it says it has only 1.75gb but no files are shown? any thoughts.

yup, proper form is to not delete the files via the computer but rather to format it in the camera every time you want to use it. this will avoid the risk of corrupted files...

sounds good, im just using iPhoto that came along with my macbook, so when i upload the files it asks if i want to delete the originals, so just skip that and format the card each time on thru the camera?
