First off, if this is in the wrong section, i appologize. I'm looking to trade in my Ranger for a Grand Cherokee. I figured I cant use the Ranger in the snow since it is 2WD. Both of the two I found on Auto Trader are v8's. My question is whats the reliablity of these like? I don't want to buy this thing then have it crap out on me. Second, what kind of gas mileage am I looking at since its a v8? Here are links to the two of them:

i wouldnt trade the ranger for a v8 suv with a 100k more miles than ur truck has.. just throw some big tires on the rear and fill the bed with snow / sandbags if we even get any snow!

and avg is 12mpg city and 17 hwy for a V8 grand cherokee

200K is the break in period for almost all Jeep motors especially the straight 6's the 4.0.

Yea, you will never hear a bad word about the 4.0 engine. Besides the basics IE: CPS/TPS/COIL/STARTER. those I6 4.0's are tractor engines they last forever.

Personally I wouldnt go near a V8 nowadays. Not with fuel prices. On 33's Im getting 18 mpg with the I6 and I can only image what the V8 would get with any mods.

yeah, thats about what I got before I lifted it. If I drove careful though, I got 15 around town. My Jeep's been pretty reliable, I've replaced the transfer case and power steering box, the overdrive seal, and a few other small things, and its runs great now.

QTF.

Its like Jeep installs bombs in the engine because 200K really is the crap mark for the engines to start failing.

my first car was a 02 jeep grand cherokee ltd with the 4.7l v8 then my brother took over the payments and i bought my sti. i recently bought a 97 jeep grand cherokee ltd with the 5.2l v8 and get okay gas mileage. the jeep has 176k on it and still runs like a champ. I recently got a new job and when this jeep dies hopefully i get about a year out of it i plan on buying the srt8 jeep with the 6.1 to daily drive.

I love jeeps and i love awd haha, ive never had rwd and will NEVER own a fwd pos. jeeps drive like no other car in the rain, snow or just regular weather.
