I just posted this in the random picture thread, but I thought that with 3 pictures it would be better in its own thread. Here are 3 pictures I just finished up tonight.

I always forget to shoot the setup shot, I feel really dumb forgetting all the time but I'll try and explain it for those who are interested. 2 flashes both at 1/16th power shot into a diffuser (piece of paper, my umbrella's and stands havent come in yet).
Anyways here are the pictures, any comments and criticisms welcome as always...

they look real good. so i'm being really picky...
#1 too much going on in the glass, doesn't make it appealing to drink
#2 Same as above... (i think the first splash of liquid would work the best, one of your previous ones had it perfect)
#3 i like this one a lot...
one thing to think about, i doubt you have been using vodka or gin for these, correct me if i'm wrong, but the real deal might not create as much bubbles when poured. maybe they do... just something i thought about.
Overall very impressive.

good call on using the real stuff... water does bubble up a little more, especially tap water. Hmm... I might have to give that a whirl. Thanks for the comment though. I bet vodka would be much more relaxed when its poured. And I wasn't trying to make them appealing to drink, I just wanted to get an action shot, I was actually going for complete crazyness, I wanted to get the glass erupting again but then I realized how big of a mess it made so I gave up on that. Again, thanks for the comment and idea, gonna try that, I'll ask my gf to pick up a handle of vodka for me.
they look pretty cool. i do completely agree with grimm, his post practically reflected exactly what i saw when i looked at them. The lighting is great imo. im interested to see how the pics coming out using alcohol. good none-the-less

well if you were going for chaos you done well. I do think the erupting out of the glass would add to them, messy maybe, but def adds to the chaos.

Very nice. just pick up a handle of bankers club its like $10 lol then it doesn't matter if you spill. I also agree with grimm, however if your going for the chaotic action of it, then you accomplished your task well. I love the first picture though, how you can perfectly see through the stream of liquid and just the outline stands out.

Alright well I really appreciate all the comments, glad to know everyone likes the calmer one. I will re shoot these and will post up the ones with actual vodka. I'll make the girlfriend buy me a cheap handle of something. Thanks for all the comments, I guess the chaotic pour in this case wasn't the right way to go. As we speak UPS just pulled up with my umbrellas and light stands finally so this should be much easier to shoot. Thanks again,

^ still trying to figure out the best way to light the apple and not blow myself up. But I have a couple of cars to shoot first. I found out its about a 10 second fuse so we'll see how it works out.

Don't mind those little highlights, there not actually in the final picture, photobucket is acting weird.

i like the first one more except for that little bit of water coming out the side of the glass. maybe just stirring the water rather than pouring it so its only "chaotic" within the glass, rather than exploding all over. that sounds confusing...know what i mean? lol

thanks guys, and yeah I know what you mean Erik... I'm gonna do the straight up vodka tonight, I gotta freeze it though so I'm hoping to god its smoother then the tap water/ purified water.

if your into the drinks and bubbles... champagne is a good one, or a cheap bottle of sparkling cider, they look the same. or gin and tonic. are you able to get more then one shot per pour with the strobes?

Not really unfortunately because at this time I have the camera on a timer only. I want to get another wireless controller so I can trip the camera when I want. What was your idea if I could get more than one shot with the strobes?

gotcha, this is where lighting is helpful. my idea was just a series of shots of one pour. or possibly if you had 2 bodies, even multiple shots with 2 compositions of the same pour. But i also was interested in how much of a pain in the ass these shoots have been as far as having to clean up and start fresh after every frame. or if you could get a few shots with only one mess. Kudos to your patience and persistence.

yeah I get one shot per mess, and it gets to be a really big pain in the ass constantly cleaning but when you look at the LCD and you get the shot you wanted, its always nice to see the hard work paid off or semi paid off. The worst is when you think you timed it out and you make a huge mess and you find out the camera missed it. My next project is going to be even more difficult, because I have to time things out perfectly. I got the vodka by the way, so I should be shooting the pictures again soon... this time with the good stuff.
goodluck bro. this really does seem like a pain in the ass. so, as mentioned before, kudos to you for having patience. id be flipping out lol

they look great, and it looks like a real martini. although un-chilled might be interesting as well, so there is no condensation on the glass?
bubbles are nice, but not in a martini. a more dramatic pour could give some more action but you might spill some. and we all know thats a sin. :P
